Join us as Head of Production, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in La Pocatière, Quebec.

 

The Head of Production ensures high standards of productivity, process stability and quality, makes sure projects are manufactured on time, quality and cost. He/She initiates MoB studies to ensure right level of vertical integration. He/She leads KPI based performance measurement, inspires continuous improvement and maintains a solid base for shop floor management by ensuring that all functional areas collaborate smoothly.

Has budgetary, personnel and disciplinary responsibility.

The Head of Production ensures that HSE is a priority, production employees on all levels are inspired to reach high standards by self-directed team work, sound resource planning and competence development is in place, continuous improvement is consistently deployed throughout production, regular bi-directional communication, committed targets and budgets are achieved.

 

Responsbilties :

 

  • Manage and plan the availability of the workforce as closely as possible to the projected workload; communicate all resource-issues to Human Resources ; actively assist in the preparation and the implementation of the appropriate measures (e.g. recruitment, training, internal transfers, flexibility agreements, overtime,….) to meet the resource requirements of the production.
  • Ensure the immediate feedback to all other involved departments of any existing or upcoming issues in production that could affect delivery, quality or productivity.
  • Ensure that appropriate information, communication, training & instructions are given to the entire workforce.
  • Create and sustain a strong team-culture amongst the production managers in order to ensure an open exchange of information and people within the production organization.
  • Ensure that the production operates according to the company standards in the area of quality, environment & health & safety.
  • Ensure that the production organization respects the BT manufacturing principles and procedures in the daily operations.
  • Lead, sponsor and actively support change and improvement programs that affect the overall performance of the production organization.
  • Actively drive process and production improvements to increase efficiency and quality, while decreasing cost
  • Ensure the implementation of the outcome of process improvements, often led by methods, in the production workshops and to ensure that the projected performance improvement in terms of planning or budget is reached.

 

Qualification :

 

  • Typically 5-8 years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Mechanical or industrial engineer.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing & quality processes, tools, documents. HSE, SMB, Continuous improvement, Management by KPIs. Comprehension of Engineering, Project Management and Planning.
  • Profound understanding of Production and all interfacing functions in a project. Project Management knowledge. Recommended: min 12 months working experience in Quality and Methods or Prod.Control. Labour relations and shop floor management. Financials, budget responsibility.
  • Has good commercial awareness and knowledge of several disciplines within a sub-function and how their processes and resources interact with other disciplines within the sub-function.
  • Contributes towards improvements in processes and flows.
  • Responsible for growth and development of direct reports, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions.
  • Adapts plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Directly manages one or more directly affiliated teams of professionals, team leaders or supervisors.
  • Solves operational issues through the development of solutions to potentially complex problems focusing on new techniques, processes and workflows which may influence future policy formation.
  • The impact of the job is on a work area such that the performance of the job eventually impacts the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function. May have budgetary responsibility.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and diplomacy skills and the ability to guide, influence and convince others and communicate complex concepts.
  • The ideal candidate is visionary, communicative, motivating and engaged.
