Your future role

 

As a Welder, you must be capable of operating all welding machines including GMAW , GTAW and Resistance Spot Welders.  Must have ability to set up welding machines with minimal to no supervision or guidance. 

 

As this is an industrial/field work environment, physical demands are in consequence (work outside in all weather conditions, work at heights, etc…). Flexibility to work on different shifts will be needed to meet with operational requirements.

 

While interacting daily with co-workers, external suppliers/contractors and management, all activities will be performed in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as prescribed by legislation and the ALSTOM Health & Safety policies.

 

You’ll specifically take care of

 

 

  • Must be capable and have extensive working knowledge of material properties, methods and basic set-up and verification, adjustment, and operation of the welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Must be able to read blueprints or work instructions, set-up of jigs and fixtures, comprehend the associated welding symbols and welding sequence.  
  • Must have working knowledge and ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools

 

 

 We’ll look to you for

 

  • Ability to weld different types of materials (e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel, copper) and pass applicable welder evaluation.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, Engineering Department and the Quality Department discussing design changes or material changes
  • Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge in other welding processes such as GMAW & TB.
  • Acceptable hand/eye coordination and ability to pass visual acuity test
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive testing (e.g. dye-penetrant, magnetic particle) or equivalent certification
  • Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager.  Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager.  This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive and may change, be added to or deleted from any time

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is CAD 31$-33$/hour, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
