At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 74,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
Could you be the full-time Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Engineer in Katowice we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You will report directly to the CEE RAM Group Manager. Internally, you will interface with the Projects or Programs Core teams, the Engineering Métiers (System, Hardware, Software, Verification & Validation, etc.), but also with the Cybersecurity, Tenders, Sourcing, Installation, Warranty & Maintenance teams. You will also be in contact with customers, suppliers and subcontractors, and with the worldwide D&IS RAM community.
You will join the Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) product line as a RAM Engineer and will be part of the Alstom D&IS RAM team in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. You will contribute to the design and the improvement of the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability performance.
You will lead, coordinate, and perform all the activities from the Tender phase up to the Operational phase, to ensure that our solutions are reliable, maintainable, and available. For this, you will identify the best architecture according to the RAM performance requirements, customer’s needs and operational conditions. You will also guarantee a risk control for each requirement related to RAM and perform continuous reliability growth activities in projects and programs.
To guarantee the optimal performance level of our systems, you will be accountable for the main Reliability, Availability and Maintainability aspects over the lifecycle phases of the solutions.
You’ll specifically take care of essential safety and reliability analyses for complex, high-risk projects.
We’ll look to you for:
- Carry out RAM (Reliability Availability Maintainability) related activities in Projects & Programs in line with the Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) objectives and look for optimization of RAM performance while being mindful of other constraints (such as life cycle cost, safety, standards, etc.)
- Make Design recommendations based on RAM studies (‘Design for Reliability’, ‘Design for Maintainability’, ‘Design for Testability’…) and check the adherence of the architecture choices to System and Customers’ RAM targets
- Perform Reliability and Lifetime predictions, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Availability & Service Reliability modelling, Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, Degraded modes analysis and conduct Maintainability and Testability studies
- Support Tender and Sourcing teams to choose and integrate the products and systems in the projects.
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Engineering degree, ideally in Dependability (RAM or RAMS),
- Specific hands-on experience in RAM and mastering RAM methodology, concepts, methods and tools,
- Knowledge and experience in Railway Signaling or in other fields with high RAMS requirements (e.g. Aeronautics, Space, Defense, Automotive, Medical, Nuclear, Power, Civil Engineering, Machinery, Oil and Gas sectors),
- Structured, organized, rigorous,
- Team player and proactive behaviour,
- A flexible approach and the ability to work effectively against deadlines,
- Great problem identification and solving skills,
- Ability to drive activities performed by others (subcontractors, suppliers),
- Creativity and negotiation skills (tenders, failure reviews),
- Fully proficient English
