Could you be the VIE - Mechanical Design Engineer in Kassel we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in designing and delivering reliable, high-quality mechanical solutions for our projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (including CAD designers, project managers, and subcontractors), ensure compliance with technical requirements, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of managing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) activities and deliverables, but also contribute to the development and verification of digital mock-ups.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing CAD activities and deliverables on assigned projects
  • Applying applicable Mechanical Domain instructions, processes, and tools
  • Performing 3D designs, annotations, and 2D deliverables
  • Executing detailed designs for internal sub-systems
  • Filling up attributes for each part in the digital mock-up (e.g., naming, material, fire & smoke compliance)
  • Verifying digital mock-up consistency (e.g., no clashes) and compliance with requirements (e.g., allocated volumes, weight, interfaces)
  • Preparing and documenting Domain Design Reviews
  • Updating digital mock-ups to reflect change requests
  • Checking design quality from CADs and subcontractors

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience or understanding of CAD tools and digital mock-ups
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
  • Familiarity with design review processes and technical documentation
  • A structured and organised approach with strong time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including with third parties (e.g., customers)
  • English proficiency (reading, writing, and technical conversations); German language skills are desirable

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
