  • Manage project development in collaboration with suppliers and customers (TSE-TDE-TCE).
  • Conduct validation activities for assigned train components as delegated by the Train Validation Engineer (TVE).
  • Draft train-level and subsystem-level test specifications and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop requirements based on reference documents, standards, certifications, safety, and customer needs, in collaboration with specialists.
  • Define system architecture, operational modes, and functions based on internal and external requirements.
  • Allocate specialist requirements (e.g. EMC, acoustics, fire protection) to subsystems in coordination with experts.
  • Perform train system FMECA in collaboration with the RAMS team.
  • Ensure consistency and compatibility across all subsystem specifications.
  • Write subsystem specifications and architecture descriptions with subsystem engineers and other engineering teams.
  • Support the TSE in defining applicable train configurations.
  • Coordinate across subsystems, engineering sites, and departments to resolve technical issues during detailed design.
  • Participate in technical meetings with customers.
  • Collaborate with the sourcing team to draft technical product specifications, engage in supplier discussions, and support product development and testing. Address non-compliance issues during the warranty phase.
  • Drive technical product development through to GFV in close cooperation with suppliers.
  • Define and execute train verification strategies with engineering, certification, validation, and subsystem teams.
  • Write train-level and subsystem-level test specifications as needed.
  • Perform train integration and tuning.
  • Manage technical issues from investigation through to resolution and closure.
  • Provide weekly reports at both project and métier levels.
  • Support the TSE in implementing and updating engineering risk mitigation plans, change order processes, and QCD optimisation.
  • Responsible for initiating and managing change requests via the CCB (Change Control Board) process
  • Prepare design reviews with suppliers (subsystem/product level) or with the TSE (train/product integration level).
  • Manage technical aspects of subsystem ESLI/RAPR.
  • Ensure standard design rules are applied in collaboration with platform and sourcing teams.
  • Apply métier tools effectively (e.g. DOORS, costing tool, DRCL).
  • Execute tasks assigned by the TSE.
  • Update the validation plan and write train system test procedures.
  • Ensure timely delivery of validation evidence, including for lower-level systems and components, and consolidate validation documentation.
  • Resolving technical open issues, overseeing the entire process from investigation through to implementation of modifications and final problem closure.
  • Provide structured Return of Experience (REX) to support costing, reference solutions, and enrich the CV métier technical repository.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc or B.Eng. in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
