We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for RAMS Engineer position under the Services Department. The position will report to Services Engineering Manager and is based in Randjespark, Midrand (Gauteng).

 

Job Purpose

  • Perform RAMS analyses and produce related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments on the project(s)/program(s).
  • Apply the applicable AT Engineering/RAMS processes & instructions.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for:

  • Delivering RAMS analyses compliant with QCD work packages commitments.
  • Reporting on the progress of his/her activities and alert the Train/Subsystem RAM Engineer and N+1 in case of difficulty.

 

Responsible for:

  • Performing the RAMS analyses overseeing, as per the applicable RAM instructions/processes and other specific requirements committed to the Customer.
  • Cascade and ensure and the reliability targets and requirements into the TPS and RSAD
  • Analyse / give guidance / raise requirement during the design to ensure the reliability target will be achieved.
  • Track the requirements in the RRIL & SRIL
  • Follow up the closure of the actions identified in the RRIL & SRIL.
  • Measure the reliability in service (at train level and for each sub-systems). Addressing Customer (internal or external) comments to get its approval on the RAM deliverables within the limits of Alstom Transport commitments.
  • Issue the contractual reports to the customer and to manage the project RAM meetings and review with the customer.
  • Issue the reliability report to the suppliers and to manage the project RAM meetings and review with the suppliers.
  • Identify major reliability contributing subsystems to the RG Manager and Train System Engineer.
  • Check the efficiency of the modifications according to the progress of their deployment.
  • Estimate the provisional reliability once the modifications are deployed.
  • Adopt a product-oriented mindset in performing his/her studies to foster the capitalisation of the results of the studies towards the product RA,

 

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc/B.Eng.Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering/Industrial, (rail knowledge is advantageous).
  • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
  • Able to interpret and classify field data and produce reliability reports
  • Ability to assess the contractual reliability at Train level.
  • To measure product service reliability performance in operation based on DTRF requirements.
  • Safety and Engineering standards knowledge, rail knowledge is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) is advantageous..
  • Problem Solving capacity (Technical and cost evaluation of a solution).
  • Capacity of managing Technical Risks.
  • Solid decision making and critical thinking.

 

Special Requirements

Main office location: Randjespark – Midrand and a fixed allocated time to Dunnottar with the RAMS Metier Team.

Mobility: Travel to suppliers including PUs, Depots countrywide and Gibela sites as operationally required
