We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for Repair Operator position under Services department. The position will report the Team Leader Repairs and is based in Midrand.

 

 

Job Purpose

Diagnose and troubleshoot fault finding on components and perform repair operations in the Repair Centre in accordance with work instructions. Perform bench testing, update the SES system and draft detailed repairs reports.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Repairs Operation
  • Test components to accurately identify faults and diagnose required actions.
  • Dissemble components and assess parts to be removed, replaced, or repaired.
  • Assemble components and inspect product to ensure high quality.
  • Retest components after replacement or repair to confirm proper functionality.
  • Operate, stop, and clean machines and equipment in accordance with company specifications and requirements.
  • Perform first-line maintenance on machines and standard tools to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conduct dynamic storage maintenance tasks for components in the warehouse, ensuring compliance with the maintenance schedule and good working condition.
  • Adhere to work instructions and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Check the validity of and certification of relevant tools, test bench e.g. calibration and report any non-conformance to the Tooling department.
  • Update technical reports in the Service Entry Sheet (SES) system and draft detailed reports on all repair activities.
  • Use the SES system to request material required for allocated tasks.
  • Contribute to effective communication within the Repairs team and with the Tools and Equipment team e.g. participate in pre- shift meetings, discuss open issues, completed tasks completed and planned activities.
  • Complete self-inspection of activities performed to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Perform 5s to ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Propose new or improved ways of working to enhance team efficiency or workplace safety.
  • Perform tasks in strict compliance with Health and Safety procedures as prescribed by legislation and company policies.
  • Report all accidents or incidents and scan QR codes as required for proper tracking.
  • Train new members of the team.

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
  • Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Millwright Trade Test Certificate is ideal.
  • 2 Years Maintenance or production experience preferably in the railway industry
  • A valid South African Driver’s license.

 

 

Special Requirements
  • Incumbents are required to travel to suppliers and depots
  • Incumbents may be required to work outside normal working hours
