Bombela Maintenance is looking to recruit an Infrastructure Manager.

This role will be based at the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand, Johannesburg.

The purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of wayside equipment maintenance required to provide passengers with a safe, effective and efficient transportation service. The role also requires managing a multi-disciplinary team.

YOUR ROLE: 

Achievement of maintenance performance criteria: 

• Planning, developing, organizing, delegating and carrying out all work required to ensure those performance objectives are met.
• Establish performance objectives in line with the business’ performance criteria for all sections of the Infrastructure Maintenance Department (Track, PS and D, Signalling, Radio, Comms / AFC, Asset Maintenance and IT), ensuring that all employees understand these objectives
• Continuously develop and refine Infrastructure Maintenance Department systems and procedures to improve the efficiency of the department

Effective disaster and incident management:

• Ensure there are disaster recovery plans in place
• In the case of a disaster, take control of the site and co-ordinate and execute the disaster recovery plan
• In the case of an incident, manage the team to ensure the incident is resolved in the shortest possible time
• For both disasters and incidents, ensure a thorough investigation is conducted and that reports detailing preventative measures are produced and implemented to prevent future occurrences
• Ensure thorough reporting and communication of disasters and incidents (and progress thereof) to relevant internal and external role-players

Effective sub-contractor / vendor management:

• Together with relevant teams, establish Scope of Work and send out RFQ’s
• Evaluate RFQ’s and appoint provider; in appointing provider, negotiate on price and capacities
• Manage sub-contractors against contractual Scope of Work
• Ensure Supervisor manages the day-to-day activities of the contractor
• Oversee the medium- to long-term management of contractors in terms of claims disputes, variation order, payments and any other escalated issue

Effective development and control of the budget:

• Esure timely, accurate annual budget preparation
• Esure timely identification and resolution of variances
• Take appropriate action to ensure adherence to budgets and proactively seek to identify and manage risk

Effective stakeholder relationship management:

• Lead in building strong internal and external relationships, displaying excellent abilities to advise, influence, negotiate and make presentations at all levels
• Lead in building partnerships and encouraging teams to take collective accountability, particularly in working across the various areas of the business
• Display teamwork and a “winning together” attitude

Effective people management:

• Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, managing their performance in relation to safety and quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives,  focusing on all aspects of sound people management:

Effective teamwork and self-management:

• Continually model Alstom’s values and demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures

• Make an effort to stay relevant and up-to-date with legislation, new developments, training etc

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in  Electrical, Electronic or Civil Engineering. ECSA registration as Professional Engineer
• 10+ years experience as a high-level supervisor / manager within a railway maintenance function
