Purpose of the Job

As the Project Manager for JFK Airport projects, responsible for overseeing the planning, spotter and construction support of various redevelopment projects at JFK Airport as they relate to the JFK AirTrain operations. Primary focus: coordinate efforts of multiple stakeholders, including: contractors, airport personnel, Spotter resource support vendors, Master Planner, and the JFK Rail Operations team, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all parties involved in a support role.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and schedules and oversee their implementation to ensure the timely completion of projects.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify project requirements/scopes and ensure that designs meet those requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure that projects are completed within budget.
  • Coordinate efforts of multiple stakeholders, including: contractors, airport personnel, Spotter resource support vendors, Master Planner, and the JFK Rail Operations team, Manage project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Oversee Redevelopment Construction Spotter Program.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is maintained correctly and organized, including invoice submittals
  • Coordinate with executive project working group in Port Authority Redevelopment Office.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure all parties agree.
  • Work with the required internal and external stakeholders to obtain all necessary permits and approvals.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with relevant safety regulations.

 

Competencies

 

Mandatory:

Knowledge of JFK Operations

PMI/PMP Certification within 18 Months

College Degree (Desirable)

 

Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of Rail Transportation Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of Project Management Experience (or demonstrated equivalent)
  • 4 to 6 years of Automated People Experience
  • Investigate EHS incidents/accidents and manage regulatory investigation corrective action plans in accordance with oversight board guidelines.
  • Experience working with Port Authority of New York & New Jersey or comparable agency.

 

Skills

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours as needed.

 

Compensation - $130K
