Starting pay: $31.98/hour

 

The Power Technician is responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and associated equipment, i.e., power systems, propulsion substations, building & station power systems, un-interruptible power supplies & associated cabling.

 

Day to Day Task: 

 

  • Perform preventative & corrective maintenance on electrical systems and associated equipment.  Inspect completed work to ensure quality requirements are met. 25%
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting & repair of faults in electrical systems using test equipment.  Inspect completed work to ensure quality requirements are met. 25%
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, electrical schematics & drawings & prepare drawings/schematics to communicate with others in performance of work. 15%
  • Completes work tasks according to industry standards and using approved work procedures, accounts for all time & materials in MAXIMO used to complete maintenance tasks and sign off your work as being completed according to maintenance plan and quality standards. 25%
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules and perform other related duties as required and assigned. 10%

 

Qualifications

 

Education required: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Specialized technical training in either Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics to the technician level from a recognized institution.
  • A valid drivers license in accordance with New York State Motor Vehicle Laws.

 

Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: 

  • Ability to operate a company vehicle for work-related tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Applications & Windows Operating System (as needed).
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language at a high level of proficiency while using the phone, in email communications and in-person.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work a 12- to 14-hour day during emergencies related to weather or other unplanned emergencies.
