Purpose of the Job

Contribute to projects QCD execution through allocation of adequate team (profile & size),and methods & tools for the Wayside Applications team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all engineering life-cycle activities for all disciplines within the Wayside team driving the transit and metro medium to large projects
  • Deliver team's work packages within cost, schedule, quality and safety targets
  • Ensure technical risks and opportunities are managed and/or mitigated
  • Ensure processes, methods & tools are applied and contribute to their improvement
  • While working with Wayside Applications Directors and Site Managers, coordinate resources allocation to bids and projects and ensure the optimal utilization ratio of resources is reached in accordance with Sales team and NAM SIG business priorities
  • Assist in Managing & developing resources consistent with NAM SIG footprint strategy
  • Manage competencies development plans within the team with support from Wayside Directors and NAM SIG Human Resources
  • Optimize efficiency and productivity of the Wayside Applications team
  • Assist with Wayside Director in Implementing the subcontracting and localization consistent with NAM SIG footprint strategy
  • Ensure the Product Solution and Safety Certification strategies are aligned with the project solution requirements and design for projects executed
  • Assist with Wayside Director in defining and implementing performance improvement initiatives and competitiveness improvement initiatives
  • Ensure best practices and REX are identified and shared for executed projects
  • Plan, supervise and report the team's workload
  • Develop, implement, monitor and report the team's KPIs

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or a equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 15 years of engineering leadership / technical experience in Transportation
  • Minimum of 15 years of Railroad Application Lead Design Engineering experience
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of Electronic and Conventional Interlocking, Level Crossing, DC ad AF Track Circuit, covering the entire engineering life-cycle
  • Strong understanding of Mainline and Urban rail signaling system design methodologies, standards (AREMA, CENELEC, IEEE, etc.), and safety concepts
  • Background in electrical engineering
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in managing technical programs and facilitating integrated product team activities
