Job Title: Requirement Management Engineer (RME)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- Is the guardian of the As Sold Baseline, drive the creation of the As Required & As Specified baseline
- Ensure that the management of tender and project requirements is performed as per the global RSC RM process and methodology, thus the delivered product meets the contractual requirements
- Provide the necessary support and trainings to tender and project teams regarding requirements management (RM) process, methodology and tool (DOORS) to perform activities requested by the process
- Monitors and reports on the status of RM activities, manages the RM database and helps engineers in their RM activities
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :
Implement Requirement Management global processes on tenders, projects and product development
- Maintain access to and integrity of the DOORS database. Should be able to perform the assignments/automation based on DXL scripts in Doors Tool.
- Support Project (AT or partners) resources accessing DOORS Database and following training on tool, RM process & Methodology.
- Support governance and compliance to all RM policies
- Get approval from central RM Métier for any deviations to the RM processes or use of the DOORS tool on a project.
Act as the deputy to the TPM (Train Performance Manager), supporting the application of the RM process on a day-to-day basis.
- Define the RM Strategy for the development, tender, and execution phases (with support from management).
- Write and maintain the RM Plan, Chief Of Development (CoD) accountable for the document
- Work with Scope Owners to make sure they understand their actions and are working according to the project schedule.
- Schedules and helps workshops with Scope Owners for each phase of the RM process (e.g. the allocation review and acceptance workshop, led by the TPM).
- Prepare and format exports for customer delivery
- Communicate bid/project status to the BTM, TPM & CoD and project team weekly.
Act as the deputy to the TPM (Train Performance Manager), supporting the application of the Mission Baseline & Trade Off process on a day-to-day basis.
- Prepare and release Baselines (As Required, As Specified) and Mission Baseline Roadmap according to RM/CCM processes, in cooperation with configuration manager.
- Prepare and Drive Trade Off Meetings (ENG-RSC-EN-SR-GDL-0048), maintain the TP Log (ENG-RSC-EN-SR-TEM-0038)
- Make the bridge between ROP process and engineering decision
Act as the guardian of the integrity of the Contracts
- Ensure that contractual baseline and all changes to it are implemented in DOORS and communicated to engineering team (VO, technical clarification, decisions taken in meeting with customer impacting the technical solution, …)
- With the CoD (Chief of Development) & TPM, Capture and track strategy definition of identified design gaps (in tender and project) & deviation from contractual baselines (in the ROM module).
- Helps identification of CR impacts on contract
- With Certification team, build the RSL (Regulation and Standard List)
Drive the engineers in their Requirement Development Activities
- Help the scope owners to perform the requirements consolidation and synthesis
- Help the scope owners to build the requirements specifications and the traceability of requirements to design and validation
- Propose Requirement Quality improvement for Scope Owners to review and validate.
- Review the quality of requirements and provide feedback to stakeholders on general quality and SMART qualifiers, using IEEE 29148, ASD-STE100, and ENG-RSC-EN-SR-GDL-0003, as a reference.
Maintain traceability from source requirements to supplier requirements (TPS) and the layers in between.
- Ensure that Scope Owners build the correct links in DOORS (e.g. RS to AD, TPS, EL…).
- Ensure that Scope Owners capture gaps in the ROM module, fill in necessary information and make links as required.
- Work with document control to make sure the evidence list is accurate
Data consistency
- Make sure data are reused according to platform & tender strategy
- Verify that attributes, types, and links are configured correctly
- Collect, consolidate, and update the database with the inputs from external stakeholders that do not have access to DOORS.
- Work with Project Contract Manager to make sure the set of source requirements in DOORS is complete, up to date and reflect the As Sold Baseline.
Change & Configuration management
- Make baselines according to RM/CM processes, in cooperation with configuration manager.
- Govern & maintain Baseline Release Note according to Product Baseline Strategy (for BSL2 of RM convergence)
- Make sure documentation is consistent & synchronized through baselining.
Contribute to RM Network
- Provide feedbacks/ improvements to Global RM Métier through RM Site representant
- Support Global RM metier in Documenting process, methodology and trainings
- Support DOORS bug report, issue resolution with Service Desk, IS&T and Tools upgrade UAT (User Acceptance Tests)\
The Requirement Management Engineer (RME) Role is a project related role, ie the RME is assigned to 1 or multiple projects according to the complexity and the phase of the project..
Educational Requirements :
University degree in engineering. University degree in Rail industry or similar is desirable.
Experience:
Mandatory:
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience in Engineering Domain.
- Minimum 5 Years in Requirement Management & Doors tool.
- Practical experience of working on projects at various stages in a project lifecycle
- Good communication skills in English and other required language(s) according to the job location
Desirable:
- Three (3) years of railway systems requirements related experience
- Experience on major rail projects
- Working in teams across multiple sites and cultures.
Competencies & Skills
- Experience utilizing database solutions for requirements management (e.g. DOORS)
- Systems Engineering/Integration conceptual knowledge
- Technical writing, requirement elicitation and formalization
- Depending on the contract, RM can be able to manage a team for requirement capture.
- Ability to propose some improvement to industrialize/automatize his/her activity through tool or new WoW.
- Profeciency in DXL scripting in DOORS.
