Purpose of the job:  

Modelling Engineer contributes to the system modelling and simulation activities for all the product families and products development within the Product Engine.

He / She develops in back office “As Specified” and “As Designed” models accordingly to the specification from the Simulation Coordinator to express the Functional Architecture needs in consistency with the validation strategy of the Product Families, by following the process, methodology and rules defined by the BPO and Modelling Tool Key Users.

He / She is accountable for the development of “Virtual Bird” train digital simulator intended to check at the earliest the functional design of the train by carrying over the Virtual Bird existing methodology.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Model creation

  • Create ‘As Specified’ models:
  • Analyze the functional documentation and set up a functional breakdown per scope functionalities
  • Create model for each functional scope
  • Validate the model created by performing behavioral simulation

 

Create ‘As Designed’ models with a high level of representativeness defined by the Modelling Tool Key Users:

  • Get components/sub-systems package (Software release, electrical/pneumatic schematics, source code, compiled code, Interface data, Software Requirements…)
  • Create model for each component/sub-system by converting and integrating its code into the modelling tool
  • Create a model for the Interface data to associate it to the sub-system/component model
  • Validate by performing behavioral simulation

 

Integrate the models together by using the Train Configurator and following the model integration methodology

Verify the consistency of the new model created by performing simulations through both unitary test and integrated test, following the model validation methodology

 

Features

  • Generate model’s documentation for each building-block in his scope
  • Generate automated tests scripts to allow simulation execution by the Simulation Coordinator
  • Execute simulations for tests specifications and procedures based on automated tests scripts
  • Perform all the simulations requested from the Product Family intended for its Functional Architecture or ROQ investigations
  • Generate test reports of performed simulations
  • Use the Train Configurator database to derivate models for other projects in the PF
  • Use systematically the models for non-regression analysis of the FCR
  • Standardize models to enhance re-use across Product Families
  • Manage the models update and change follow-up by applying the process defined by the Configuration and Change Key User

 

Use and Global network

  • Support the design teams to their specific requests by providing solutions through models’ investigations
  • Use systematically the models for non-regression analysis of the FCR
  • Promote the Virtual Bird (process, method and tools) for a larger audience (demonstrations for Bids, train drivers…)
  • Create partnerships with both schools, industries and software developers to improve the modelling and simulation way
