Purpose of the Job
Managing and developing the Train Design Systems - Mechanical Domain Team on Site
Promoting and ensuring deployment of QMS and corresponding Engineering Instructions, Process and tools for the Domain on Site.
Organisation Reporting
Hierarchical Reporting: (Site) Train Design Metier Manager (TDMM)
Network & Links
Engineering: Engineering Planning Manager, Design team (Other MDLs, DLE), Validation team, MDL from other sites
Project: Project Engineering Managers (PrEM), Train Design Engineer (TDE)
Site: HR Department, Sourcing Department, Indus Department, Quality Department, etc…
External Interface: Subcontractors, Suppliers (for new developments)
Missions
Continuous improvement of the Domain team performance for project/program activities (OTD, FTR, etc…)
Respect of QCD work packages at the Domain level
Design reviews performed on time and documented
Workload management at the Domain level
People Management cycle on time / Succession plan
Compliance to Alstom Transport/Engineering processes & instructions
Continuous improvement or Return on Experience (RoE) management from previous projects = zero missing RoE
Responsibilities
Accountable For:
Ensuring the proper follow-up of the Metier Quality and Delivery on Domain Workpackages for the Site.
Ensuring understanding and application of the TD rules, processes and tools (single-domain)
Ensuring that design reviews (single domain) are prepared and documented as per the project/program schedule and to follow-up the main open actions.
Ensuring proper collaborative work with other Domains/Metier/Departments
Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on the Domain scope.
Responsible for :
Managing the development of the site Domain team to ensure the adequacy of the capacity vs workload vs skills and the transfer of activities if needed
Delivery of product specifications and conforming the product meeting the specification
Defining Domain fixed costs and workload to secure project QCD commitments and formalizing hypothesis taken.
Defining Mechanical Domain architecture taking into account depending the domain: weight, gauge, installation strategy, acoustics, eco design, ergonomics, aerodynamics, aeraulic…
Allocating adequate resources to the projects/programs/tenders.
Applying and follow-up the People Management Cycle on time for Domain team according to N+1 and HR instructions.
Supporting the Domain team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions (multi-domains) in particular those involving other stakeholders (internal or external).
Reporting on Domain activities progress and alerting in case of main issue (capacity, skills, rule applicability, etc.).
Validating relevant Domain deliverables and securing planning.
Job Specifications
Knowledge & Experience :
Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of experience in System engineering with 3+ years of experience in Railway products is added advantage
Ability to define specifications with Strong skills in the areas of requirement management, cost driver, validation and certification process, challenge the supplier on technical/industrial choice
Ability to assess the conformity of the product to the specification
Experience of 5+ years team management
Good Communications and interpersonal skills
Conflict Management and multitasking
Customer Focus / Management skills
Structured and organised with Hand-on approach
English operational in read/writing and technical meetings
Team size
Total Domain team: 15 to 25 persons
