Your Future Role

As a Supplier Quality Project Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of components delivered by our suppliers. Whether you're a recent graduate or in the early stages of your engineering career, this is a unique opportunity to grow, learn, and make a real impact in the rail industry.

 

We’ll look to you for: 

  •  React promptly to supplier issues and initiate Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs).
  •  Coordinate replacement of defective parts and implement containment actions.
  •  Invoice suppliers for Cost of Non-Quality (CONQ S1).
  •  Manage supplier waiver requests.
  •  Drive supplier escalation process. 
  •  Organize supplier retrofits.
  •  Decide and implement quality walls, pre-shipment inspections when necessary.
  •  Secure robust containment plans to protect manufacturing lines.
  •  Challenge suppliers to deliver effective corrective and preventive actions.
  •  Verify action effectiveness through evidence and supplier visits.
  •  Develop improvement roadmaps for underperforming suppliers.
  •  Conduct regular reviews and site visits.
  •  Perform quality review and inspections for parts not listed in the Supplier Part List.
  •  Participate in Return of Experience (REX) analysis for trusted suppliers.
  • Prepare and monitor supplier quality reviews at the unit level.
  • Address and resolve top recurring issues.

  •  Understanding of root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
  •  Ability to interpret and apply control plans, FMEA, and corrective actions.
  •  Experience or coursework in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering - preffered.
  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  •  Ability to manage time effectively and make decisions.
  •  Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams.
  •  Clear and confident communication—both written and verbal.
  •  Ability to lead meetings, drive action plans, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  •  Konwledge of international standards (ISO 9001, IRIS, etc.) and supplier diversity.
  •  Availability and willingness to travel for supplier audits and site visits (up tp 50% of time).
  •  Commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability.
  •  Intercultural awareness.

Base Salary Range

In accordance with New York State law, the anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $83,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, and qualifications. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
