ALSTOM Hong Kong Limited has been a major supplier of trains, signaling systems, infrastructure and services (maintenance,renovation and parts supply) to MTR Corporation over the last 40 years. Since the first metro project in Hong Kong in 1975,ALSTOM Hong Kong Limited has supplied over 1,100 metro cars for its metro network and equipped seven lines with signalingsystems currently in operation, contributing positively to the urban transport system development in Hong Kong.

 

We are looking for Project Validation & Commissioning Manager based in Hong Kong to join our dynamic team. We deliver multiple signaling projects to our customer MTR with dedication to sustainable and smart mobility in the field of design, engineering, installationand test & commissioning. What are my responsibilities?

Strategy:

  • Define the Project Verification and Validation (V&V) strategy in the V&V Plan, to ensure proper coverage and demonstration that customer requirements are met, through all project lifecycle stretching from factory to site and acceptance tests.
  • Optimize allocation of tests in-house and on-site, favoring labs to anticipate results and increase efficiency and coverage.
  • Support the definition of V&V and T&C activity schedule, negotiating with SDIM and Design and Installation teams the deadlines to ensure proper validation time slots for execution.
  • Define and manage the project Requirement Validation Table (RVT) to track and demonstrate the validation of technical requirements.
  • Ensure the application and adherence to internal processes and applicable norms, methods & tools, requesting deviations whenever appropriate.
  • Coordinates the needs of V&V and T&C regarding lab and site tools, and follow-up implementation and delivery, including calibration (demanded to T&C team).
  • Work with V&V and T&C for the test schedule and procedures.
  • Coordinates with T&C for all the test procedures for lab and T&C.
  • Coordinates with design and T&C for all bug findings


Execution:

  • Coordinates execution and reporting of all the planned activities to validate the project.
  • Monitor and follow-up execution and reporting of activities delegated to experts in other departments.
  • Manage internal interfaces with core team and external peers such as partners and subcontractors.
  • Represent Alstom in front of customers and auditors, to provide overview of Test strategy, progress, issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinates the global strategy application and adaptation in function of the agreed site possession schedule.
  • Support application of EHS on field, guided from the T&C team, in accordance to the Project team members in charge of Project EHS coordination


Management:

  • Participate to the skill assessment and manage functionally the Project V&V and T&C team.
  • Select and manage subcontractors.
  • Manage V&C work package and be responsible of the QCD commitments, including EHS and RSA –Railway safety.
  • Anticipate issues and report on a regular basis to the Project Core Team to liaise project steering.
  • Address V&C feedback in project REX and propose improvement actions.

 

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience in systems/sub-systems integration, embedded equipment, and electrotechnical product development in a highly complex and normative railway signalling environment.
  • Good analytical skill and previous experience in Test & commissioning (T&C) or V&V activities for signaling projects are required. In alternative, you will have an experience in system. engineering or Safety Assurance.
  • Experience of management by Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives
  • Deep knowledge of multiple subsystems + system global view
  • Capability of interfacing from technical and managerial perspectives internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with ALSTOM legacy projects design / V&V / T&C
  • Preferred with engineering and system background, design and data preparation processes understanding and quality, EHS and railway safety knowledge
  • Open-minded, self-entrepreneurial with problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership and team motivator with a sense of urgency.
  • Good writing skills with clarity, rigor, and concision.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams in parallel, with a quality-focused, rigorous, and team-player perspective.
  • Flexible, mobile, and available for short or long missions in different locations and countries, including night shifts.
  • Proficient in using new technologies and tools.
