PURPOSE OF THE JOB

In charge to support the Construction management in its track activities in the Track Green Line - LRT Project

The Finishing Activities Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all finalization activities of track installation, including aluminothermic welding, rail equalizing, stress release, grinding, and track encapsulation (particularly in slab track or urban sections). The role ensures high-quality execution in compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee finishing works such as rail welding (aluminothermic or flash-butt), rail equalizing, grinding, stress release, and encapsulation.
  • Supervise field teams and coordinate daily activities to meet the project schedule and quality targets.
  • Ensure welding activities are performed following approved procedures, and coordinate with QA/QC for non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.
  • Verify proper rail alignment and geometry before and after welding and encapsulation operations.
  • Manage the encapsulation process including shuttering, resin or mortar pouring, curing, and finishing – particularly in slab track areas or urban environments.
  • Ensure all final works meet dimensional tolerances and track geometry specifications.
  • Monitor the use of tools, welding kits, encapsulation equipment, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate daily records of progress, welding logs, non-conformance reports, and support documentation for as-built records.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (surveying, signalling, civil) to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Ensure correct installation of transversal ditch drainages

 

 MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements

 

Mandatory:

Technical diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction.

 

 

Desirable:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in railway infrastructure projects, especially in track finishing works.
  • Solid knowledge of rail welding processes, stress management in continuous welded rail (CWR), and rail alignment standards.
  • Experience with slab track systems and encapsulation techniques.

Experience

 

Mandatory:

  • Experience with slab track systems and encapsulation techniques.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

 

Desirable:

  • Fluent in English
  • Certification in aluminothermic rail welding or equivalent (according to national or international standards).
  • Familiarity with urban or suburban railway projects.
  • Experience working under Chilean (or relevant local) railway standards.
  • Proficiency in reporting tools and MS Office.
  • Availability to work in shifts, extended hours, or night works when required.

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and track layout schematics.
  • Strong team leadership, problem-solving skills, and safety awareness.
  • Familiarity with quality control and health & safety practices in rail projects.
