Purpose of the Job:

 The Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) is the Engineering representative among project core team and has to manage engineering core team to reach its QCD commitment. He/she applies and promotes the Team, Trust & Action values of the company.


Reporting within the Organisation:
•    Hierarchically to the PrEM Manager
•    Functionally to the Project Manager (PM) during project duration


Tasks:
•    Managing all Engineering activities within a Project by delivering the Engineering Work Package in compliance with the Engineering QCD commitment. Managing, communicating and, if necessary, escalating on critical paths and issues linked to Engineering to the Project Manager / PrEM Manager / Métiers Managers.
•    Owning the Engineering work package and being responsible for the technical design implementation on vehicle level over the complete lifecycle of a project (i.e. from the design phase and homologation until end of defects liability period).
•    Ensuring that all requirements are met (e.g. implementation of customer specifications/homologation requirements/internal specifications) whilst taking into account experience from reference projects and preliminary investigations.
•    Preparation of/participation in meetings: e.g. presentation of the technical solution and approval of the specifications to the customer, presentation of the project including coordination of requirements with homologation authorities, escalation meetings (e.g. internally, at the customer/supplier) etc. This also includes the accountability for technical decisions taken with his/her team.
•    If necessary (e.g. in the event of an escalation), comparison of the requirements against available data (e.g. reference library/projects/designs). Identification of deviations (e.g. function, geometry, architecture, layout, parameters) including their evaluation (e.g. adjustment/change of certain technical features including risk assessment). Coordination with interfacing parties (e.g. other Engineering departments, Customers, Suppliers).
•    Coordination and definition of work packages (usually within engineering) within the given requirements (e.g. customer specifications, functional specifications, internal specifications, contractual requirements including product costs). Technical coordination at vehicle level from the start of the project until end, taking into account internal/external constraints (e.g. standards/laws, internal guidelines).
•    Responsible for the execution of Design Reviews and Engineering points within DFQ Gate Review checklists, provides to PM/ PrEM Manager his prognostic and puts in place necessary actions to mitigate a No Go risk.


Knowledge & Experience:
•    Degree in Engineering or state-certified technician
•    Several years of professional experience in rail vehicle design or a similar industry
•    Excellent technical understanding; knowledge of controlling, finance and experience in project management
•    Fluent English, verbal and written
