Purpose of the Job

As part of the Metro Trains Sourcing; responsibility to ensure availability of both goods and services to meet the business needs, to provide goods and services at best value and to ensure that all Alstom policies, processes and systems are adhered to.

 

Objective

· Perform Supplier selection within the business, ensuring materials and services are provided to the business      at the appropriate Cost, Quality and Delivery

· Undertake Contract Management of Suppliers where a Service Level Agreement/Contract exists, improving their performance in terms of Quality, Cost & Delivery

 

Responsibilities

· Ensure all requirements are competitively sourced in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.

  Prepare and launch RFQs, perform supplier selection and Business Awards for identified material and/or service requirements in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures;

· Negotiation of cost reduction with suppliers

· Leads supplier QCD performance reviews according to Commodity Manager delegation Use of the Alstom Tendering tool

· Manage existing contracts and undertake contract negotiations for goods and services as required.

· Provide full Sourcing support for any identified project activities / requirements, including deputising for the Unit Sourcing Manager

· Ensure Terms & Conditions, and other Charters/Alstom requirements, are in place with Suppliers

· Respond to supplier and internal queries in a timely and professional manner.

· Undertake periodic benchmarking and maintain market intelligence to validate costs and drive cost reduction activities where appropriate. · To support the Business approval process for purchases;

 ·Develop sourcing strategies, including the use of e-procurement tools, in conjunction with the Unit Sourcing Manager and other Alstom representatives.

· Maintain an accurate ‘base data’ with Supplier quotations uploaded into RAIL-SYS

· Resolve any contractual or performance issue associated with supplier agreements in a timely fashion.

· Escalate, as appropriate, any contractual or performance issue associated with supplier agreements.

· Act as an ambassador for Alstom and the Sourcing function both internally and externally.

 

Educational Requirements

Engineering or souring degree level or equivalent experience, with CIPS qualification (or be studying for CIPS)

 

Technical Knowledge / Experience

· Previous experience in Sourcing

· Experience in Railway industry preferable

· Financial and commercial awareness

· Good knowledge of SAP

· IT literate with strong knowledge of MS Office
