Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Certification & Authorisation Manager (f/m/d) in Hamburg we’re looking for?

Your Future Role

The need for mass transit systems with expanded capacity is steadily increasing, especially in metropolitan regions such as Hamburg. Our product line Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) answers worldwide mobility challenges for passengers and freight transportation by leading the way in digitalization and communications-based train control (CBTC) technology. You’ll report to Martin Guss and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.

In this role you will define and execute the Certification & Authorisation project plan for the intended product(s) in order to obtain and maintain the regulatory certifications and/or authorisations from a third party and you will ensure the awareness on certification and authorisation stakes in assigned project teams.

We’ll look for you to:

•    Define the Certification & Authorisation strategy for assigned vehicle(s), ensuring alignment with project planning, quality, budget, and timelines throughout all phases (from tender to warranty).
•    Lead the complete C&A process to secure regulatory vehicle type certification and authorisation for market entry.
•    Manage regulatory requirements baseline (e.g., TSIs, National Rules) and support engineering teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
•    Coordinate independent assessors’ selection (e.g., Notified Body, Designated Body) and oversee certification engineers and subcontractors.
•    Plan and consolidate evidence documentation for submission to assessors and authorities, ensuring compliance and completeness.
•    Monitor and report C&A KPIs, regulatory changes, and configuration modifications, maintaining alignment with standards and contractual arrangements.
•    Provide expertise and contribute to the development of C&A methods, tools, and best practices within the organisation and across sites.

All About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
•    Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering projects, preferably within rail or transportation sectors.
•    High degree of accuracy and a clear, structured communication style, ensuring precise documentation and effective stakeholder engagement.
•    Solid understanding of functional safety, validation processes, and relevant standards/regulations applicable to rail vehicles.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly learn new topics and synthesize complex technical information.
•    Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools, combined with willingness to travel for project needs.
•    Fluency in German (mandatory) and professional proficiency in English.

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

•    Experience a dynamic work environment with a permanent position at a leading company for green mobility

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
