Alstom has an opening for a Materials Engineer in its Warrensburg, MO location.  The Materials Engineer is responsible for defined projects. In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. You are responsible for PLM Key User functions and ensuring the correct Materials are ordered and will be delivered to the factory, on site or to the customer in time. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the definition and ordering of internal and external Materials based on Signal plans or System Eng./ Application Eng. input documentation
  • Responsible to create the material lists for a railroad signaling project based on hardware plans
  • Responsible to align material delivery plans and shipping schedule with project manager, project engineering manager, and manufacturing
  • Responsible to place material orders, track material availability, create new part numbers, perform PLM Key User functions, and advise on material status.
  • Promote customer satisfaction and develop positive customer relationships
  • Responsible for attaining all aspects of materials engineering operationally including safety, scheduling, quality, and process development
  • Evaluate operating methods and tools and act as change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward world-class performance through continuous improvement
  • Investigate and apply new materials and technology
  • Assist PrEM’s with Customer Deliver Requirement List (CDRL)
  • Conduct training regarding materials and materials engineering processes, applied tools, etc
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical science
  • 4+ years’ of experience in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes
  • 2+ years' of experience in PLM Key User or 4+ years' of experience with PLM
  • Experience with sale orders within the ERP system

Other Skills:

  • Additional experience in Railroad Signaling or in general engineering or manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Knowledge of ISO/quality procedures
  • Project management skills
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
