Your future role

 

Provide first-line reactive technical support for in-service vehicle faults, ensuring a prompt and effective response. Support production sites (Alstom & suppliers) to maintain fleet availability in line with the timetable. Offer technical guidance to uphold fleet safety and reliability.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Provide an effective 24/7 support service to trains whilst in service.
  • To audit the output of production sites to ensure safety and compliance with the business specification and report via 'pro forma' to the Fleet Management Team & Outstations Manager.
  • Carry out Lone & Wayside working
  • Assist with follow up to conclusion, Safety of the Line incidents (including derailments), rescue & recovery and providing technical reports, as required by the Fleet management team.
  • Ensure that when in service failures occur, vehicles are dealt with promptly and information is passed speedily and effectively to Alstom personnel at the Service Delivery Centre to facilitate a repair.
  • Ensure all defects reported in traffic on the Voyager Fleet to the Service Delivery Centre or Defect Control Desk.
  • Inputting/ closing of defects/ fleet checks/ campaigns on Alstom’s Maximo web-based fleet management system.
  • Ensure that Maintenance Suppliers provide vehicles that meet the specifications for safety, cleanliness and reliability.
  • Bring to the attention of the Fleet Management team, any specific safety matters of which they become aware and recommend action.
  • Liaise with Traincrew when vehicles are in service to ascertain faults/issues.
  • Proactive monitoring of in-service vehicles
  • Fault diagnostics on vehicles via TMS (Train Management System) and Laptop-based specific software whilst in service.
  • Fault diagnostics utilizing complex schematics and cable books.
  • Ensure that they are aware of and comply with the requirements of Company Procedures, legislation and industry standards.
  • To attend local outstations and assist the Maintenance Suppliers with on-site technical advice and expertise.
  • To audit the process and output of production sites to ensure safety and compliance with the business specification and report via 'pro forma' to the Fleet management team.
  • To produce reports, verbally, in writing or on computer, of work carried out or actions taken
  • To produce detailed reports, both verbally and electronically, of work carried out or actions taken.

•          Apprentice trained in an Engineering discipline or equivalent

  • HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Designated Persons (DP) qualifications - Training can be provided but prior knowledge of railway operations is a requirement.
  • Experience within the Rolling Stock industry desirable.
  • Good level of Interpersonal and influencing skills;
  • Proven experience of working in a high pressured environment.
  • Must have the ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
