Design & Documentation Engineer – Brake Systems in Getafe, Madrid.

We’re looking for a Design & Documentation Engineer – Brake Systems to manage ongoing and upcoming projects with the department. This includes design, documentation, risk analysis, new developments and workshop tasks. You’ll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication — because they know what’s at stake: the journey home. 

Your role, your impact 

  • Design and re-engineering of pieces and parts using Autodesk Inventor. Metal parts, rubber parts, springs, belows… 

  • Definition of standard/commercial materials (screws, nuts…) based on different norms. 

  • Definition of the manufacturing materials based on the original piece. 

  • Design of special tools needed for the assembly and disassembly of the elements. 

  • Reading and understanding of manufacturer technical documentation and analyzing pneumatic and hydraulic schemes. 

  • Risk analysis documents creation. 

  • Creation of technical instructions, technical documentation and overhaul manuals. 

  • Dismounting and mounting of the brake devices (alone or with an operator). 

  • Prepare monthly reports of the projects situation. 

  • Mechanical design input on modifications: Contribute to the preparation of engineering effort estimates required to carry out the mechanical design; coordinate with key suppliers; create and update mechanical drawings and schematics; create and update bills of materials (BOMs); perform calculations and simulations to validate the design, and ensure that changes comply with Alstom's change and configuration management processes.  

  • Engineering input on projects: Contribute to the preparation of mechanical design effort estimates for projects; coordinate with suppliers; deliver engineering deliverables for design-for-quality (DfQ) gate reviews; create and update mechanical drawings and schematics; create and update bills of materials (BOMs); perform calculations and simulations to validate the design, and ensure compliance with Alstom's change and configuration management processes.  

  • Contribute to the capture and dissemination of Return on Experience (REX). 

You’ll work with sharp, committed teams across procurement, design, workshop and logistics — solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility. 

 

What you bring 

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial, Design, Chemical or Materials Engineering.  

  • Experience working with Autodesk Inventor. 

  • Experience working with re-engineering processes. 

  • You are a match if you have experience working with rubber parts, defining materials, designing them, selecting the proper material, etc. 

  • Knowledge of validation processes. 

  • Experience developing Risk Analysis, developing technical instructions. Better for disassembly and assembly. 

  • Experience in designing and modeling springs and bellows is also valued. 

  • English level B2 is required. 

  • Better if you have knowledge about railway and brakes systems. 

  • It is good if you are open to travel 1 or 2 times a year. 

  • Valuable knowledge of PLC programming or other electronic systems, as we tend to develop equipment that requires this type of work.  

  • Valuable the knowledge of machinery design, specifically test benches, and knowledge of the Machinery Directive 2006/42 is valued.

  • Drawings done accurately according to the necessary tolerances. 

  • Documents delivered on time. 

  • Risk Analysis delivered as customer / AsBo requirements. 

  • Tools designed accomplish with the requirements os usability and safety.
