The Design Engineering Domain/Metier Department Head leads the engineering team dedicated to the preliminary and detailed design for Onboard projects (Functional Specifications, Electrical Scheme, Manuals and
Procedures, Application Logic and Data, BoM and design) with SCMT and ERTMS technologies for domestic and international projects.
- Define and implement engineering vision, strategy and guideline in agreement with the Project Engineering Manager (team profile and skills, growth plans, discipline evolutions in terms of technology, competitiveness, …)
- Develop and maintain Métier / Domain competences, coaching the team and growing World Class Engineering Experts
- Set clear team goals, delegate tasks and set deadlines
- Secure the Alstom communication process within the team, promoting Alstom values
- Provide support to team project execution for deploying the Specific Application based on architecure define by System Design, GA and generic product
- Prepare and host management reviews.
- Define and govern own group’s strategy with stakeholders.
- Develop golden rules for effective workshare by métier.
- Continuously motivate, encourage, evaluate and recognize, train and develop resources, in cooperation with HR
- Deploy Project Engineering Adapt Design / Design Application process, Methods and Tools in the team, providing feedback for Process reviews
- Collect REX from execution and innovation opportunities to feed Reference Library where applicable and share outcomes at department level
- Estimate / Validate activities quotations for tenders and projects
- Provide to Reference Library Manager, Reference Library (cost structure & cost drivers) of the project engineering Onboard Design department improvement roadmap in line with Solution competitiveness roadmap + progress report, when applicable
- Foster the collection and sharing of REX from project/program execution
- Manage adequacy between estimated workload and capacity, considering subcontracting & business strategies
