Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your dynamic leadership and operational expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, driven, and innovative team.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and cost-effective maintenance operations of GO Transit and UP Express fleets, while driving continuous improvement and efficiencies. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Operations, and GO Transit, oversee performance reports, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations. You'll also lead initiatives to improve safety, training, and operational excellence.

 

You’ll specifically take care of fostering cooperative initiatives between Operations and Maintenance, but also spearheading the transition toward 15-minute service on all rail corridors.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Directly managing the Maintenance team for GO Transit and UP Express fleets, overseeing approximately 855 employees.

  • Ensuring safe, prompt, and courteous service in accordance with corporate policies, government regulations, and Canadian Rail Operating Rules.

  • Overseeing train maintenance performance reports and coordinating with host railways to ensure daily operational performance.

  • Developing and maintaining training/refresher programs to ensure high levels of competence among maintenance teams.

  • Conducting operational audits and ensuring proper reporting and investigation of incidents, with preventive actions implemented.

  • Supervising and coordinating the work activities of the management team to optimize efficiency.

  • Maintaining financial records, controlling expenditures, and preparing financial and administrative reports.

  • Designing and implementing new policies and procedures as needed.

  • Acting as a liaison between the site and the corporation.

  • CROR qualification or certification in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (considered an asset).

  • 10+ years of management responsibility in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of railroad operating rules and regulations.

  • Locomotive Engineer qualification (considered an asset).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse disciplines and levels, both internally and externally.

  • Knowledge of budgetary requirements and long-range planning.

  • Sound business judgment and the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for training and coaching activities.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Compensation The expected compensation for this role is $190,000 to $210,000, based on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
