Could you be the full-time onsite Signaling and Communications Technician in Eglinton, ON, CA we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your signaling and communications expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside skilled and dedicated teammates. You'll play a critical role in maintaining and troubleshooting the signaling and communication subsystems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of railway operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Rail System Team, Operation Supervisors, Subcontractors), participate in emergency response and corrective operations, and oversee maintenance activities in alignment with quality and health & safety standards, and much more.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting the signaling and communication subsystem of the line (CBTC, CCTV, PA, PIDS, IAC, SCADA, network, phone, Access control, Signaling, Other server room, etc.), in line with specified quality procedures.
  • Carrying out work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as per legislation and company policies.
  • Participate in the maintenance of other assets (e.g., ventilation, security assets, pumps, switches).
  • Conduct all levels of examination and work arising, including the use of computerized equipment, working manuals, shunting, and reformation exams.
  • Exchange or repair assets within the subsystems as required.
  • Support rescue or corrective operations in case of accidents or major failures.
  • Report activities (work orders/inspections) via a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and Tabs.
  • Supervise and/or follow subcontractor activities.
  • Attend regular team briefings and adhere to company procedures, particularly in relation to quality and health & safety.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Rail System Team during emergencies or extreme weather conditions (e.g., ice/snow) to maintain line operations.
  • Drive company vehicles as required.

  • Degree in Networking, Telecommunication, or equivalent work experience in an IT-related field
  • Experience or understanding of signaling or telecom systems
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting or configuration
  • Familiarity with railway or vehicle environments
  • Low Voltage certification or similar communication skill
  • Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards
  • Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills
  • Willingness to share skills and collaborate with others.
