We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Artisan: Fitting position under Manufacturing. The position will report to the EPU Manager and is based in Dunnottar

 

Job Purpose

Assemble Cars in line with APSYS (Continuous Improvement tool).

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assembles coaches’, sub-assemblies, and accessories, as required for the assigned process.
  • Prepares work to be performed by studying work instructions, manufacturing document specifications, and BOM; gathering necessary tools and materials.
  • Participates during baseline changes to highlight any improvements in the process
  • Resolves assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Carries out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; reporting for repairs to EPU Manager.
  • Coaches and Mentors Operator, trainees, learners and other direct report in the station.
  • Reworks and/or repairs assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes and recommendations as per provided rework procedure.
  • Maintains expected progress of tasks per station as per Task sequence and communicate blocking points to the EPU Manager.
  • Understands spent time vs method time methodology and ensures adherence to set specifications as per task sequence
  • Works or assists in other departments to balance workloads and to meet schedule priorities. Assist in other non-production areas as may be required by supervision or management.
  • Use critical tools such as torque wrenches to adjust parts and equipment, or install parts and equipment, following established work instructions.
  • Ensures all quality control documentation (check lists& self-inspection.) are timeously completed and up to date and verifies all completed tasks in the station.
  • Conducts visual inspection of parts before fitment to ensure conformity
  • Understands and drive part preservation projects at station level to ensure quality of the
  • Maintains high standards of housekeeping and implement 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) on an allocated work station.
  • Respect EHS rules and any work related processes
  • Report all the incidents and hazards to EHS/Supervisor
  • Knowledge and understanding of station risk assessment and lifting plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of monthly GZDP

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Science
  • Artisan Trade qualification 
  • Minimum  of 2 years’ experience 

Special Requirements

To carry out technical support and maintenance on 24/7 shift & on-call basis (night, day, weekend).
