Dubai 2020 RAM & Safety Assurance Engineer (SAE)


Alstom is looking for a RAMS Engineer to join our team on Dubai Metro 2020 Expolink extension project. The project is scheduled to finish by Q1 2020.



To perform RAM & Safety analyses and produce related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments on the project(s)/program(s). Apply the applicable Alstom's Railway Safety processes & instructions.


  • Reporting to the Infrastructure Safety Assurance Manager and Functional Reporting to the Rail System Project Safety Assurance Manager, you will interface with:
  • Engineering: Design team (Metro, Tramway, Mainline, Electrification and Trackwork), T&C team.
  • Project Engineering Manager (PrEM), PrQSM, corresponding PSAM and other RAMS stakeholders from other Departments (Signaling, Rolling Stock, System, Infra)
  • External Suppliers/Subcontractors, External Partners (CW, O&M, etc…), Customers, Safety Authorities, Independent Safety parties (NoBo, DeBo, ISA…)



  • Delivering RAMS analyses compliant with QCD commitments.
  • Reporting on the progress of his/her activities and alert the Project RAM & Safety Assurance Manager and Safety Assurance Manager in case of difficulty.
  • Performing the RAMS analyses he/she is in charge of, as per the applicable RAMS instructions/processes and other specific requirements committed to the Customer.
  • Addressing Customer/Independent parties (ISA, NoBo, DeBo…) comments to get its approval on the RAM and Safety deliverables he/she is in charge of, within the limits of Alstom Transport commitments.
  • Contributing to the assessment of the RAMS performance on her/his scope and to the upstream identification of the necessary RAMS requirements to ensure the achievement of the RAMS targets.
  • Applying the Alstom's Railway Safety processes & instructions to his / her activities.
  • Having a pro-active challenging view on the RAMS data/results he/she handles to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the RAMS studies and requirements.
  • Seeking for the technical understanding of her/his scope in order to better assess their RAMS performance and potential areas of improvement.
  • Adopting a product oriented mind-set in performing his/her studies to foster the capitalisation of the results of the studies towards the product RAMS performance




  • Advanced University Degree in Engineering (Electric preferred) or equivalent.
  • Railway RAM and Safety analysis and demonstration methods and tools as per CENELEC 50126, 50128, 50129
  • 3 years’ experience in RAM and Safety Analysis in the railway industry
  • Experience in RAM and Safety Analysis of Traction power subsystems for railway applications (metro preferred)
  • Experience in RAM and Safety Analysis of track work subsystems for railway applications would constitute an advantage
  • Time management
  • Structured and organized with hands-on approach
  • Customer & Project Focus.
  • Fluent in English
  • Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering, electronic knowledge
