The Alstom-led consortium Expolink, also composed of Acciona and Gulermak, has signed a contract with RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) to design and build the extension of Dubai’s Red metro line, also called Route 2020, and upgrade the system of the existing line. The project involves the construction of a 15-kilometre-long line – of which 11.8 kilometers of elevated metro line and 3.2 kilometers underground metro line - branching off the existing red line at the Nakheel Harbour & Tower station.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The ALSTOM Quality inspector/controller (QI/QC) is in charge of inspect, test, and sample materials, parts, or products for defects and any deviations from specifications (note: Products can be understood as the "Installaed E&M scope").


The inspector will assess and if applicable will refuse and/ or discard anything that does not meet with company standards, including Installed E&M equipment, products  and materials performed by the Installation teams.

A Quality Inspector/ QC will observe production execution (e.g. installation activities) and equipment used on the related activities to ensure that specifications are being met and to make or order necessary adjustments to processes or assemblies.


The inspector will discuss results and findings with those in charge of the installation and products executions, and recommend any required corrective actions. 


A keen attention to detail is central to the job in order to detect defects/ deviations that could be easily missed by the installation team  but still present a safety risk.


An inspector should be able to interpret blueprints and other drawings that detail product and installation specifications.


Hours will vary, but an inspector can plan on working a set schedule that could be on the first, second, or third shift in a site installation.


Day-to-day, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring and contribuing to the QA/QC Plan or Programme and ensure that the installation/ construction activities in the project meet the specific criterias set in the ITPs´+QFs as per the method statements and other specifications applicable.
  • Assuring that the work performed as required by the sub-contractor is some cases, in order to meet or exceed the required quality level.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for the installation/ construction execution, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Reject products, installed equipment, materials, tools and other controlled devices when they do not meet required specifications.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and request necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Assisting the Quality Supervisors / Engineer such in all quality control matters.
  • Following up the E&M installation works in a presence of "the Engineer or Consultant", in all matters related to the Inspection and test plans proposed approved for use.
  • If required, finishing work checking in a presence of the " the Engineer or Consultant" according to the ITP's + QF´s.


Follow and maintain Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements.



  • KPI1 :Respect of planning schedule
  • KPI2: Respect of yearly Quality System event deadlines (PQP and QC program, process reviews, QMR, internal audits)
  • KPI3 : Effective management and performance of planned inspections according to QA/QC plan (actual progress consistent with closing deadlines)
  • KPI4 : Compliance of the Site Management System with the AT/PL requirements and other local requirements


Candidate Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree preferable. Mechanical, Civil, or Electro technical Technician is a must (Technical under degree);
  • 3-5 years’ experience in quality inspection/ quality control activities within construction/ installation activities, preferable in railway business


Experience / Behavioural and Technical Skills / Competencies

  • knowledge of Quality standard (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, ECM) and quality tools,
  • Quality control plan, quality inspections, reports and results
  • Experience in operational hands on activities (Previous experience carrying out the duties and responsibilities of an inspector is preferable), in documentation management, usage of Monitoring and Measuring devices and interpretations of results
  • Read and interpretation of technical documentation and plans
  • Fluent in English
  • Collaboration and team working, rigorous, focused and attention to detail are Key to perform this duty
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively when reporting issues and defects is necessary, strong personality
