Could you be the full-time Senior Buyer 6 months in Derby, United Kingdom  we’re looking for?

Your future role

Procure through the use of professional purchasing practices and techniques and ensure parts/services/goods availability through the production process while maintaining overall cost (and inventory, depending on allocation) at the lowest level and highest quality.

Maintain daily contact with suppliers. Ensures supplier quality and on-time-delivery

Work on complex files independently and support material bids.

 

We’ll look to you for:

Winning material/services/goods bids

  • Being the counterpart of Procurement Bid Manager to fill-in and commit on material prices on all commodities not covered by Global Lead Buyers
  • Depending on the phase of the bid, contribute to the identification of material requirements, estimation of allowable costs per systems, provision of material reference costs, issuance of RFQ to suppliers, selection of offer, creation of contractual packages, assessment of risks and opportunities in the supply  chain and finally a sign-off a final Bill of Material for specific commodity
  • Sign off the “as sold Bill of Materials” for tenders in coordination with relevant Global Commodity Management and Procurement Bid Managers
  • Keep track and stick to the Sourcing Plan for his commodity
  • Responsible for the Supplier Evaluation Approval Process (SEAP) for his commodity.

 

Manage purchase contracts for the commodity in scope

  • Support development of Sourcing strategies
  • Actively take part in commodity networks led by Head of Regional Commodity Management in providing input to commodity strategies
  • Provide input to Regional Commodity Management regarding their Business Unit specific Procurement needs, the evaluation of supplier performance, the description of the supply base and finally collection of past and future spend data
  • Establish Requests for Quotations (RFQ’s) including commercial and technical requirements, evaluate and select suppliers offers, place orders and control file transfer
  • Managing contracts for risk management, claims, conflict resolutions, feedback and input into bids from lessons learnt, Monitor end of lifetime.

 

Develop supplier ‘best in class’ performance

  • Manage the commercial relationship with suppliers in line with sourcing strategies led by     Global Lead Buyers
  • Ensuring suppliers are globally competitive and enabling the business to gain competitive advantage
  • Develop long term supplier relationships through regular performance reviews and continually drive cost improvements
  • Utilize appropriate tools and techniques effectively to ensure that Procurement delivers its cost and performance requirements e.g. global sourcing, cost improvements, Open Book Costing, Value Engineering, Value Stream Mapping
  • Where relevant, accurately capture and communicate to the suppliers the relevant project-specific Technical Requirements Documentation (TRD)
  • Where relevant, involve and manage suppliers into a joint product design development process (JDDP) in order to integrate efficiently supplier solutions.

 

Manage material cost reduction activities

  • Responsible for delivering cost reduction targets.

  • Fluent in English
  • Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
  • At least 5 years of experience (in Procurement and/or Project Management) with technical and operational expertise
  • Solid technical knowledge of the different systems and materials used in our business
  • Continuous Improvement, strong analytical skills and continuous improvement skills
  • Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
  • Solid level in Microsoft Office Applications, E-mail application, Solid working knowledge in ERP systems, eProcurement tools, Web-Browser
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products, services and technical processes in own area
  • Impacts a range of customers, operational, project or service activities within own area
