We are looking for a Payroll Hub Manager in Derby, United Kingdom.


Purpose of the Job

The Hub Manager  is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery (based on service level agreements) of payroll and reporting to both the business and external authorities, in the countries under their responsibility.
They are responsible for managing the payroll vendor, for their responsible countries, to ensure services are delivered in accordance with the terms of the contract and service level agreements.
This role requires actively working with and contributing to the other functions within HR (HRIS, HR Global Services and CoE) to ensure delivery of a legally compliant payroll in accordance with country, local and business laws and policies.
The Hub Manager  will actively manage continous improvement and develop a Lean culture within the teams. The role ensures the governance of the agreed global (European) tools, procedures and processes (e.g. metrics, KPI analysis, payroll vendor R&Rs, global processes). This requires focus on team development towards functional professionalism as well as on structured problem solving, process analysis and integration.


•    Develop and stabilise in-built quality processes, anticipating and eliminating root causes for payroll errors, involving all relevant parties
•    Ensure utilisation of synergy’s and standardisation by process alignment and increasing resource capability across countries
•    Escalation point for complex payroll specific queries.
•    Management of multi-country payroll operations
•    Ensure best practices are identified and implemented across countries
•    Responsible for the management of the 3rd party payroll provider contract, in terms of ensuring service level agreements are met
•    Solves operational issues through the development of solutions to potentially complex problems focussing on new techniques, processes and workflows which may influence future policy formation

Customer Service
•    Develop an effective working relationship with client group and related departments across the business to enhance the overall customer experience
•    Maintain relationships with business stakeholders in payroll processes to ensure alignment in delivering to the business
•    Actively encourage a continuous improvement mindset within the payroll area.
•    Through knowledge of the payroll services market and networking, identify best practices to improve performance, employee experience and reduce costs
•    Demonstrates strong communication and diplomacy skills with the ability to guide, influence and convince others

•    Develop payroll hub teams exchanging country specific knowledge, develop comprehensive team capabilities, sharing responsibility and enable cross-country backup involving Hub countries as well as offshore resources
•    Actively develop Lean culture and competencies within the teams and manage continuous improvement
•    Manage a team of payroll professionals in a multi-country environment
•    Set employee objectives, conduct performance reviews
•    Facilitate employee development through coaching and thought leadership
•    Build and maintain strong working relationships with other HR Global Services and CoE Leaders
•    Ensure budget is maintained for responsible countries
•    Support local payroll experts in management of payroll and cross-functional projects.

•    Responsible for compliance, both internal and external, across countries for which responsibility is held.


•    Degree Level qualification
•    Masters preferred
•    Strong experience in a similar position
•    Project management experience
•    Extensive knowledge of general payroll systems at international level
•    Experience of largescale HR/Payroll systems is essential, SAP Payroll & HR – preferred 
•    Proficiency in English, any other Nordic language: Swedish, Danish is desirable
