The Level Crossing Engineer is a key member of the Level Crossing team involved in the Level Crossing product development from concept and product approval through to deployment, maintenance, warranty and obsolescence management. They are actively involved in driving continuous business improvement initiatives for Alstom Level Crossing products, processes and tools in order to meet market requirements.
Level Crossing Engineers are required to input into bids and tenders to meet business needs.
The current Alstom Level Crossing portfolio includes SML400 integrated MSL, ElectroLogIXS solutions: MCB, MCB-CCTV, MCB-OD2, AHBC, Ebi Gate 200 (Standalone MSL), Ebi Gate 2000 (MDB-OD), Ebi Gate 630 Barriers and VHLC.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities for the Level Crossing Engineer are as follows:
- Understand, collaborate and comply with all stakeholder requirements
- Comply with all Alstom processes
- Complete designer risk assessments and gap analysis
- Develop traceable Level Crossing application data requirements and solutions
- Collaborate with delivery projects to ensure the correct Level Crossing solutions are deployed effectively
- Produce quality designs & application data to meet requirements
- Create Level Crossing processes, procedures, and manuals (training, user, warranty etc)
- Develop new Level Crossing tools and processes
- Provide input to tenders as required
- Complete allocated tasks on time and to budget
- Ensure IRSE licence, logbook and Alstom Authority to Work are all maintained and regularly reviewed
KPI’s
- Number of activities delivered on time and to budget (delivery & development activities)
- Approved ATW and valid IRSE Designer licence
- Number of business / EHSQ / technical briefs attended
- Right first time / Quality deliverables (measured by number of rework cycles)
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
- MSc or BSc level education in an engineering related subject or equivalent experience
- IRSE Designers Licence (1.1.510)
Desirable:
IRSE Verifier licence (1.1.160)
Experience
Mandatory:
- Experience of Level Crossing systems
- Experience of signalling design processes
- Effective communication with all customers, clients, colleagues and peers (Internal and external)
- Experience of complying with relevant legislation, standards and processes
- Team work
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ElectroLogIXS, Ebi Gate, and/or VHLC
- Knowledge of software development process
- Knowledge of interfacing systems including: Smartlock 400 and other Computer Based Interlockings, Route Relay,Interlockings, Frauscher axle counters, Modular Control Systems, Level Crossing infrastructure (CCTV, Barriers, Obstacle Detectors etc)
