Job purpose 

As part of the Services Business team, the Head of Spares shall lead and manage the UK Spares team to deliver the financial and operational targets:
•    Ensure profitable Services growth.
•    Ensure efficient, effective and safe execution of services activities.
He/She shall drive business development, working closely with the Sales and Bid teams, including defining and adapting service offerings to local requirements.
He/She shall represent AT to the customer and key stakeholders and build a strong network with decision makers, opinion leaders, while strictly applying Alstom’s ethical standards.
He/She has personnel and disciplinary responsibility where applicable, which includes building a strong team, with people of the right skills to ensure that the business objectives are met.


Responsibilities :

Business Growth
•    Develop, secure and grow spares sales & other Material Solutions type business using their experience in Services in the UK. 
•    Foster and manage customer relationships, identifying business development opportunities, creating solutions and converting these into profitable orders.
•    Work with the Sales team to manage and either develop strategic customer relationships directly, or via the Sales Team. 
•    Provide clarity on the appropriate levels of service required to deliver a profitable spares proposition in the UK market place 
Delivery Performance
•    Work with internal suppliers to ensure that we maintain an excellent customer service.
•    Drive through internal improvements in line with the strategy to ensure that delivery is effective, safe and efficient.
•    
Market Awareness and Strategy
•    Develop a robust understanding of the Spares market, target customer base, key competitors and target prices.
•    Further develop the Spares strategy in conjunction with the Head of Material Solutions 
•    Drive the implementation of the Spares strategy through the Spares team
•    
Governance
•    Ensure appropriate KPIs are in place, that they are regularly reviewed, and actions developed to achieve targets.
•    Chair the monthly business review and team meetings.
•    Ensure appropriate processes & reviews are in place to manage and motivate the Spares team, including chairing the Monthly Business Review and team meetings.
•    Ensure compliance with the UK bid approvals governance.
People Management:
•    Build dynamic organisational capability using all HR available processes, procedures and tools including: Selection and Recruitment, Performance Management, Development Plans. 
•    Make pay review decisions
•    Make discipline/termination decisions

 

Requirements:
•    5-10 years’ commercial/operations/engineering experience in relevant roles, managing the successful delivery of complex Services contracts and the associated customer relationship. 
•    Successful track record of maximising the commercial outcome for complex contracts; delivering organic growth
•    Knowledge of Services across the business 
•    In depth knowledge of the railway industry and of its trends with specific reference to train maintenance
•    In depth knowledge of the UK market (train operators and competitors) 
•    Expert understanding of how sub-functions integrate the train maintenance value chain
•    Plan Do Check Act 
•    Achieving Excellence System 
•    Maintenance Management System 
•    Previous experience with SAP
•    Fluent English
