Your future role
This is an opportunity to join a world-leading engineering company through a well-established 2-year Graduate Development Programme. You will work alongside experienced professionals and receive strong support, mentoring and coaching while developing against IMechE competencies, with the aim of achieving chartered or incorporated mechanical engineer status.
The programme includes placements across multiple departments to build a broad understanding of the business. Placements are planned with your Line Manager and Mentor to support development and provide a varied, rewarding experience.
After completing the scheme, you will move into a first Appointment role with staged responsibility, progressing from managing individual tasks to work packages and small projects. Ongoing on-the-job learning is supported by a modular development programme, helping you work towards a relevant professional qualification.
We’ll look to you for:
- Alstom modernisation projects and tenders
- Technical support for train fleets in service
- Technical support for any potential new build train projects
- Developing designs that meet specification requirements for functionality, safety, reliability and cost
- Integrating mechanical systems
- Producing additional documentation to support the procurement, manufacture, installation, testing and approval of the design
- Preparing for and participate in design reviews covering work undertaken by the individual and by others
- Participating in validation testing and inspection of first components
- Ensuring materials selected are compliant to relevant standards and fit for purpose
- Supporting production staff in ensuring first vehicle build is undertaken correctly
- Investigating and resolve problems found during production

Qualifications
You will need a minimum of 2:1 BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering, Maths or Physics
