The Engineering Quality Manager is a key and integral part of our Engineering Quality Team and can be based anywhere across UK such as London, Derby, Manchester. As our Engineering Quality Manager (EQM) you will work closely with the Engineering Community to ensure the standards are well known and applied, measuring and reporting on Engineering performance, and managing any Quality issues that arise within Engineering.


What That Means Day To Day


You’ll be working in the Quality team who independently support and govern the maintenance, overhaul, upgrades and servicing of various fleets in 30+ sites across the UK&I. The team govern and maintain our regulatory standards for the Services business and acting as the conscience for the business, raising awareness, and promoting a right first time culture. The team also plays a fundamental role in the management and resolution of all Railway Safety Issues and project execution. You will be responsible for improving Quality Engineering Standards and to prevent re-occurrence  of Railway Safety Events through application of REX (Return of experience). Other aspects of the role include:

  • Supporting the implementation of REX in the Tender Phase of projects through participation in Tender design reviews, ensuring the relevant Tender Gate is implemented, monitored and maintained.
  • Reporting business performance and supporting the Quality Director in monthly reviews and KPI management


The role has strong connections with the central Quality function and capitalises on the sharing of REX across all our businesses across the globe; meaning there is an opportunity for international travel where necessary.



Who We’re Looking For

  • Education Degree level or equivalent experience (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical)
  • Strong background in problem solving and 8D methodology, particularly return of experience
  • Ability to understand Engineering Standards and application
  • Experience of working on Tenders and working in cross functional teams
  • Ability to influence and promote Engineering change
