Your future role

 

Join the team responsible for the development of future trains in the UK and abroad.  We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is an expert in mechanical integration and/or system engineering as applied to whole train, vehicle, installation, assembly and detail level.  

 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Management and technical leadership of design and sub-system engineers responsible for vehicle interior design, integration and mechanical sub-systems. 
  • Manage team workload planning, resource allocation, and forecasting to secure QCD commitments, including timely escalation of capacity, skills, or delivery risks. 
  • Regular reporting to management and alert in case of issue impacting the team performance 
  • Continuous improvement of the team performance for project/program activities, on-time and right first-time delivery 
  • Compliance to Engineering processes & instructions 
  • Deploying problem solving methodologies with necessary interfaces with other stakeholders 
  • Supporting the team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions 
  • Continuous improvement or Return on Experience management from previous projects 
  • People Management and Competency Development  
  • Foster strong cross‑functional collaboration within the UK organisation and the global mechanical integration and sub-system network.

  • Significant experience of Mechanical Design with significant sub-system engineering experience desirable. 
  • Significant experience in Railway products is highly desirable 
  • Experience of team management 
  • Experienced in the full product design lifecycle from concept development through to testing and validation. 
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly process and the factors influencing this in design is desirable 
  • Experienced CAD user, preferably Catia V5 / V6 is desirable 
  • Conflict management resolution 
  • Customer satisfaction oriented 
  • Resilient and organised with hands-on approach 
  • Good communicator, able to co-ordinate and/or support cross functional product development activities
