The Bogies Department in Derby has a long history of developing bogies to meet the international market needs with products running all around the world. We are proud to have a high number of experts, a culture of 'can-do' and strong links and collaboration with other bogie and Rolling Stock sites  which all combined enable us to deliver solutions competitively. Derby has developed the Flexx Eco Bogie Platform with over 7,000 bogies delivered/ordered  across the world  with operating environment extremes from the cold climate of Norway to the hot environment of Riyadh.

 

You will be responsible for the definition of the mechanical system (bogie) and guarantor of the quality of technical data that come from the Design Office. Leads the team of multi bogie expertise – designers, structure engineers, dynamicists, brake engineers, experts, etc, to deliver the project within quality, time and cost targets.

 

Your key responsibilities?

 

  • Ensures, with his colleagues and the technical departments,  the product technical relevance, from the definition to the industrialization and the performance in revenue service
  • Guarantees project technical management  (internal and external relationships with the Customers, general planning, interfaces, advices from the suppliers and follow-up of allocated budget),
  • Guarantees product contractual technical requirements are met including  technical performances, RAMS (Reliability –Maintainability-Availability-Safety items), Fire/smoke and eco-design
  • Ensures the provision, in due time, of the whole input data and of all the data that can have an impact on studies (design, lead time of the different suppliers, deadlines related to production)
  • Ensures and leads design reviews and internal and external definition and validation files
  • Responsible to produce, update and approve definition and justification technical documents
  • Responsible to define and follow-up the technical validation plan of the product and its components (routine tests definition, type tests, type parts, line tests,etc.)
  • Responsible to optimize product development cost,
  • Can answer tenders

 

Minimum requirements:

 

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or similar
  • Experience in the Railway Industry +5 years
  • Good capacity of synthesis
  • Analytic approach
  • People management experience
  • Fluent english skills (german or french language skills would be a plus)
