Purpose of the Role:

The Lead of Engineering Configuration & Change is accountable of the Engineering CM Baselines and the Engineering Change Coordination across the engineering site and product and all its projects ensuring the Engineering Status Accounting. 

He/She ensures the team development on Configuration and Change functions, to achieve control over the product configuration by applying appropriate process and tools to maintain the consistency and to control the changes and their associated potential impacts. 

 

In summary he/she: 

  • Ensures the compliance by the engineering community to the 000450 and 016007 processes 
  • Is the Engineering Configuration and Change representative for the Product Family 
  • Coordinates the Engineering Configuration, Baselining & Change Team 
  • Is a permanent stakeholder of the Product Family Change Preparation and Control Board 
  • Performs the Engineering Configuration and Change activities during Off-Cycle and Bid Phases 
  • Ensure that the engineering activities are planned and completed efficiently, supplying the necessary deliverable to other engaging functions.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

1. Configuration Management: 

  • Ensures the compliance by the engineering community to the 016007 directive and cover the non-compliancy of legacy/old projects 
  • Performs the activities of Engineering Configuration during the Off-Cycle and Bid Phase and sets the path and work conditions for the team during Project Phase; 
  • Responsible of the Product Family Engineering Configuration Baselines: Functional Baseline (As Required, As Specified) and As Designed. 
  • Ensures the consistency of the baseline based on the CR to implement; 
  • Reviews and deliver the Engineering Baselines Release Notes for each Baseline version to the Product Family Configuration Manager for approval and final release. 
  • Responsible of the Product Family Engineering Configuration Target 
  • Validates and delivers the ETR Status to the Product Family Configuration Manager.

 

2. Change Management: 

  • Ensures the compliance by the engineering community to the 000450 directive and cover the non-compliancy of legacy/old projects; 
  • Performs the activities of Engineering Change during the Off-Cycle and Bid Phase and sets the path and work conditions for the team during Project Phase; 
  • Facilitates the Product Family Change Preparation Board for all Change Requests (CR) belonging to Engineering; 

 

3. Develops the Engineering Configuration and Change Team securing the competences in accordance with the established processes and guidelines.

4. Ensures cooperation with line functions on the release of required resources. 
5. Ensures the complete synchronization of the Product Configuration Management and Product Change Management objectives against the Product Development objectives. 

6. Produce the necessary Key Performance Indicators for the Product and Project on progress and performance of the Change Boards and the CM Baseline Maturity (as per the directives). 

 

Key Requirements:

  • Master Degree in Engineering or PhD or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 4 years engineering experts experience in the specific technical domain 
  • Structured, driven and process oriented person able to lead a team of experts/specialists 
  • Budget, project and resource planning experience 
  • Very good understanding of engineering processes and tools  
  • Experience on business strategic areas  
  • Leadership potential 
  • Analytical skills to understand interfaces and impacts with other technical domains 
  • Technical domain experience essential, Systems Integration experience required, System Architectural understanding required.
