Our Dandenong Manufacturing Site has recently won a contract to build the Next Generation Trams for Melbourne, right here in Melbourne. We are now seeking candidates with the relevant skills and experience to support us with building 100 trams over the next couple of years. Valued at approximately €700 million, the contract includes supply of rolling stock and 15-year maintenance making this the biggest tram contract in Australia and in the Southern hemisphere.

 

We are currently looking for expressions of interest from qualified Welders. 
We have three shifts on offer:

6am to 2:30pm – Day time shift 
2pm to 10.30pm – Afternoon shift 
10pm to 6:30am – Night Shift 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to welding procedure specifications (WPS) / ability to read engineering drawings/weld symbols.
  • Executing MAG welding on mild steel and stainless steel in all positions.
  • Assemble and inspect finished product to ensure defined quality level on time.
  • Material Handling
  • Set up production equipment: machines and workstations.
  • Clean and maintain working areas and production equipment.
  • Respect task time and quality level
  • Working with jigs/fixtures
  • Identify parts as required by the operating instruction.
  • Monitor the production process and carry out basic testing and quality checks.
  • Complies with EHS rules.

 

All about you:
We value passion and attitude over experience and don't expect you to have every single skill - Fundamentals requirements are outlined below;

  • Australian recognised Certificate III in Fabrication (mandatory)
  • Previous experience with MIG welding
  • Problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for success in this position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
