Your future role: 

 

We're seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our HR Operations team, based in Dandenong. Reporting to the ANZ Payroll and Time & Attendance Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll services across the business, working closely with payroll experts, HR, finance and external parties such as tax authorities and benefits providers. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on precision, understands the complexity of payroll at scale, and can work autonomously as well as part of a broader team.

 

As the Payroll Specialist, you will:

 

  • Provide second-level support in resolving payroll queries within defined SLAs, escalating to payroll experts where required.
  • Act as the key contact for maintaining and enhancing third-party interfaces, including benefits providers.
  • Validate data entry and payroll results in line with standards set by payroll experts and managers.
  • Coach and support colleagues on payroll-related matters, sharing knowledge across the team.
  • Maintain and update work instructions to ensure they remain accurate and compliant.
  • Identify and raise change requests to reflect evolving policy and business process changes in the payroll solution.
  • Proactively identify processing issues and opportunities for improvement, proposing and implementing solutions.
  • Support audits and compliance activities, ensuring processes align with tax, superannuation and relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to on-time payroll delivery and maintain payroll accuracy.


All about you:

 

  • Tertiary qualification.
  • Substantial experience in payroll processing for a large workforce( > 1000 employees).
  • Strong systems knowledge, with hands-on experience using SAP (SAP Globalview highly regarded).
  • Experience working within a national or multinational business with a large blue-collar workforce, ideally with exposure to Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).
  • Manufacturing or industrial sector awareness highly regarded.
  • Strong Excel skills and in-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • A collaborative team player with a genuine sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging across all levels of the business.
