Could you be the full-time Rolling Stock Technical Support Engineer based in Crewe we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and help shape the future of industrialisation at Alstom. You’ll report to the Head of Technical Services and play a vital role in delivering optimum solutions for new projects, production layouts, and key tenders. We’ll look to you to:

  • Develop, industrialise, and implement cost-effective solutions for overhaul projects based on engineering specifications.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in SAP for use by Materials Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Generate shop floor documentation to track progress and key overhaul characteristics.
  • Work within business improvement groups to identify and implement process improvements for maintenance and overhaul activities.
  • Specify and support procurement of plant and equipment.
  • Develop standard times for tasks and support Standard Operations.
  • Design production layouts applying LEAN principles.
  • Identify special processes and implement appropriate instructions.
  • Support tendering activities for new business introductions.
  • Develop and trial new processes and methods prior to production runs.
  • Ensure new processes align with capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Training Manager to identify training needs, develop materials, and support delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance overall business performance.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to tick every box. Instead, here are some traits and skills that will help you thrive in this role:

  • Degree or Higher Certificate in an engineering or technical discipline (preferred).
  • Strong experience in a similar role involving maintenance and overhaul of safety-critical systems/equipment in a rail operational environment.
  • Knowledge and application of Lean tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems, BOM, and SAP (advantageous).
  • Advanced/business fluent level of English.
  • A proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • A wide range of flexible benefits that you can tailor to suit your lifestyle

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
