Could you be our Production Planner working onsite in Crewe helping drive accurate planning and scheduling to support delivery performance at Alstom?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your production planning expertise in a high-performance manufacturing environment. You’ll report to the Production Planning Manager and work alongside a dedicated and passionate Services team within Alstom UK & Ireland.

Day-to-day, you will play a key role in creating, maintaining and updating the Master Production Schedule (MPS), developing detailed production and material delivery plans, and supporting short-, mid-, and long-term capacity planning at site level. You’ll manage the generation of production orders in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring all data is accurate and timely. You will also track production progress closely and help resolve any variances against plan.

You’ll demonstrate excellent attention to detail and play an active part in improving planning accuracy and driving operational efficiency. Your ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across departments will help ensure smooth production flow and improved service delivery.

We’ll also look to you to do the following:

  • Ensure the Master Production Schedule, detailed plans and material schedules are accurate, complete, and available on time.
  • Maintain accurate order and production data in the ERP system (e.g. SAP – Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing).
  • Monitor and report on production performance versus the plan, escalating issues promptly when needed.
  • Calculate and maintain accurate capacity and working hours data to support effective planning and improvement actions.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Use planning tools and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to support data-driven decision-making.

All about you

We value passion and commitment. We don’t expect you to have every skill, but here’s what we’re ideally looking for to help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Experience in a production planning or related role.
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and planning/calculation tools.
  • Familiarity with business operating systems (BOS), key performance indicators (KPIs), and production planning metrics.
  • Technical education background or manufacturing engineering qualification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production flow, capacity planning, and manufacturing hour calculations.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; team-oriented and detail-focused.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
