Your future role
As a Group Leader, you will align with and support the production teams, enabling them to perform in line with overall goals and targets, particularly regarding safety, productivity, quality, and cost. Reporting into the Production Manager, you will ensure standardised work practices and promote open, two‑way communication, team empowerment, and best‑practice sharing across all teams. You will hold both personnel and disciplinary responsibility and establish regular information and communication frameworks. Acting as a role model, you will support team members directly or by engaging the appropriate support personnel, ensuring teams consistently meet their performance targets. Your role will also include a strong focus on EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), protecting people and the environment, as well as implementing Kaizen. You will monitor and improve problem‑solving and escalation processes and apply key lean‑manufacturing principles such as Takt Time and Cycle Time.
We’ll look to you for:
-
Issuing risk assessments for all activities within your sector and ensuring that accident and injury prevention is embedded into the working environment and every operational task. You will be responsible for maintaining safety standards and creating detailed action plans for safety improvements, while having clear ownership of all critical operational risks.
-
Maintaining quality control in line with company and contractual requirements, continuously evaluating and improving methods and processes.
-
Supporting the problem‑resolution process with production and support functions, and providing detailed daily/weekly reports covering production issues, shortages, hours, and other key performance information.
-
Assigning teams to maximise production within budgeted labour hours and consumables, and setting daily production priorities. You will anticipate needs for parts, materials, and tools, ensuring availability when required. Close coordination with upstream and downstream workstations, Methods, Engineering, and other departments will be essential for optimised workflow.
-
Validating with Planning the correct production sequence and manpower requirements for your area, and initiating manpower requisitions when needed.
-
Promoting training to improve and expand skills within your team, including identifying rotational plans and developing autonomous/self‑managed teams. You will maintain discipline and lead the workforce in line with company policies, encouraging strong teamwork and the empowerment of production employees. Measuring and monitoring performance will be a key part of your responsibilities.

-
Recommended: Experience in Quality, Methods, or Production Control.
-
