ALSTOM is recruiting a Software Development Team Lead for the Railway Operation Data Solutions department, which is part of the new Digital Services Product Line on Cloud Solutions.

 

You will lead a geographically distributed unit of employees in the field of software engineering with successful execution and completion of the V-Cycle agile development parts (product specification, design, implementation, components integration and testing) on time, quality and cost. You will lead people from junior to expert level in a modern and latest technology context for server and cloud software development, with defined data interfaces to trains. You will secure, maintain and develop the team’s core know-how, utilize established external supplier connections to flexibly cover work peak loads, and further build up the team according to the department growth plans. To perform this, you will be supported by and interface with several department roles like Product Management, Bid Management, Regional Projects Coordination and DevOps Integration teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the capacity and capability of an organizational unit
  • Assign people, equipment, funding or other resources needed by projects or R&D to maintain the global product character
  • Maintain close contact with staff on status of their work, tracking their progress and adherence to budgeted hours through task planning to meet budget, schedules and technical requirements
  • Ensure adherence to software engineering processes for high quality designs to meet the customers’ expectations, including agile methodologies
  • Create and implement plans to improve and develop employee skills, motivation and engagement (workforce planning, performance management, career development, succession planning and recruitment)
  • Provide leadership and direction to the staff of engineers within the team
  • Build and maintain communication and relationships with customers and other functions
  • Ensure continuous optimization of processes/tools/behaviors by considering business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, and new market conditions

 

Qualifications:

  • University or Technical College Degree in Engineering (preferably Software Engineering) or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant leadership experience
  • Fluent in English
