Denmark has set an ambitious and radical goal to upgrade the totality of its mainline network. Alstom is there to set this ambition to life and has started the deployment of state-of-the-art ERTMS level 2 baseline 3 signalling technology both on the trackside infrastructure and train fleets. This technology will drastically improve the passenger experience by reducing the number of delays and increasing transport capacity.


We are now looking for a Mechanical Installation Design Engineer to be part of our strong installation design team. You will report to Mechanical Design Manager, and the role is based in Copenhagen.



Main tasks and responsibilities

• Identification of the environment features (survey)

• Identification of the constraints linked with the system and the objects

• Choice of the installation concepts and components

• To design the mechanical solution (sheet metal essentially)

• Write technical documentation allowing to share the design to customer and ensure we are fulfilling the installation constraints

• To coordinate with the Electrical and Method engineer in order to organize the activities and deliver technical baseline on time

• To upload design and specification in PLM

• Technical support to Installation team and supplier

• To perform Design to Cost analysis

• Participate to the development of tools

• Follow-up of the execution on a first installation (FoC) and adjustments

• To update design and documentation according to modification done during FoC;



Skills and education

It is required to have a Engineering Degree, master or equivalent within a technical cursus (mechanics, electro-mechanics) or equivalent experience in industrial environment. In addition do you have +5 years expirence as Mechanical Engineer in railway industry or similar other markets.



  • Knowledge in CAD software (INVENTOR or similar);
  • Knowledge in 2D drawings
  • Knowledge in sheet metal plate and welding
  • Polyvalent profile with basic electrical and method knowledge
  • Knowledge in PLM tool (ENOVIA or similar);
  • Knowledge in computer science allowing to use standard informatic tools (Microsoft office pack);
  • Technical knowledge of the railway world
  • Ability to work with remote contacts in a multidisciplinary context
  • Ability to be the representative of the company for our customers
  • Rigorous, reliable, autonomous


It is mandatory to have good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken, allowing you to collaborate in an international context. You should also have driving license, as travel will be required during the preliminary design and installation phase of the project.
