RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main responsibilities:

  • To achieve the Optimized materials Flow / industry best Methods time for all the Logistics Operations
  • To arrive at cost effective logistics solution for all Inbound and outbound shipment by designing appropriate packing solutions and optimization of Cubic Space
  • To define layouts for space optimizations & required infrastructure
  • To improve the Process cycle time by analysing end to end process & drive agility within the SCM
  • To conduct time & Motion Study all the lines meeting Production plan and Manufactruing requirements
  • To Identify the Risk in terms of EHS and other process failures and mitigate the same
  • Define Kitting Strategy in line with Manufactruing team and Line Feeding team reuirements and securing singoff for all the pojects 
  • Drive EHS improvements interms of Lifting Plans , MHE movement optimization and Vehicle movements on site
  • Define the Space Requirements for the Warehsoue Operations and optimize the same
  • To review the SCM processes and drive the agility by eliminating the NVA
  • Deployment of Lean tools and methodology for reducing all the type of waste
  • Manage the physical material flows (reception, put away, kitting, mirror area, shipping) to always keep physical and system flows aligned
  • Ensure the material availability, integrity & delivery on time on production line
  • Monitor FIFO in Warehouse & ensure compliance to Perpetual Cycle Count requirements
  • Work closely with Warehouse Key User to manage the stock in the ERP system according to the core model and to train Logistics operators
  • Monitor & challenge the performance of each warehouse activity through Key Performance Indicators
  • Actively contributes to the Continuous Improvement activities & APSYS roadmap and leading deployment of all Alstom programs related to Logistics on his own site

Management:

  • Provide a long-term vision to the team, set yearly objectives and targets, support and coach in achieving these targets and objectives, perform performance appraisals, reward and recognize merits, set and follow up team members development plans and induction program for newcomers
  • Manage 3PL and logistic partners (manage costs, budget, invoices; define targets, monitor activities…)

Operational activities:

  • Define the warehouse layout and optimize the storage space (layout, warehouse sizing, slow moving stock / scrapping process, …)
  • Put in place mirror area in the warehouse to optimize line feeding activities (Kanban flow, sequence, …)
  • Plan and manage material receipt, inbound transportation, stock entry, picking and kitting, line feeding, packing, shipping, outbound transportation, inventory accuracy, scrap process
  • Respect any specific storage regulations (chemicals, battery, …)
  • Ensure the continually improvement of the warehouse organisation & processes
  • Quarantine non-conforming material and follow up non-conformity resolution
  • Analyse the Root Causes of any methods issues and agree with the internal stakeholders on corrective actions. Follow up on these actions and participate in their realization

Packaging & Methods

  • Ensure PFEP for entire BOM. Every part has to have an approved PDS, Storage & Handling standard
  • Implement optimized Eco friendly Packaging solutions that saves on cost, space & meets JIT/ standard Inventory norms
  • Drive Implementation of Returnable Packaging, FLO5, FLO7, JIT, Direct to Line Packaging & reduce in site Inventory for all Local parts
  • Drive 3PL Milk run optimizing Freight, Inventory & Packaging costs

 

In case of 3PL (logistic activities totally or partially outsourced):

Main responsibilities (towards 3PL)

- Ensure that the 3PL and his employees operates in an environment that complies with Alstom’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

- Ensure that the 3PL works according to the conditions and service levels agreed in the contract. Deviations are escalated & resolution obtained

- Guarantee follow-up and performance of 3PL activities through KPIs

- Analyse the Root Causes of any logistic issues and agree with the internal stakeholders and the Management of the 3PL on corrective actions. Follow up on these actions and participate in their realization

 

Qualifications & Skills:

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • B.E/ B.Tech
  • Specialization in Supply Chain
  • Engineer with 13 to 16 years of experience in Logistics Engineering & Warehouse operations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing Organisation dealing Continous Line Feeding Operations, Working knowledge in ERP environment (SAP desirable).
  • Knowledge on Methods , Logistics Flow , TIme & Motion Study , Logistics Layout & Infrastructure will be an added advantage
