Purpose of the job:
The role of the Site Managing Director is to endure end to end responsibility of the process and projects which have part of theirs scope in the managed site. The role requires both strategic vision and short terms accountability, leading the site team to deliver performance in all the expected domains. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guidelines. The SMD is a reference leader vs the external and internal customers for quality and delivery

The role of SMD Train Manufacturing Site (TMS) has to cope with the following company priorities
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead the full TMS scope ensuring delivery of production, testing, commissioning, and service commitments across assigned projects.
- Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and manufacturing performance uplift across throughput, productivity, inventory discipline, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure site readiness and maturity to meet demanding customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Participate to the Project Industrialisation Organization (PIO) definition for the projects forecasted on the site developing a industrial feasibility plans ion accordance to the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process with Platform and Central Operations Team
- Maintaining a dialogue between internal and external shareholders and the board and ensure that all efforts are in alignment
- Act as the Legal Representative (including the management and control) of the site
- Represents Alstom at local level
2. Customer Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary customer interface for TMS topics, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and strong recovery plans when needed.
- Build credibility with demanding customers through reliable delivery, quality mindset, and governance discipline.
- Collaborate closely with central functions (Engineering, Quality, Finance, HR, Industrial, Supply Chain) to ensure aligned execution.
3. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Instil a zero‑defect, zero‑compromise quality culture across all TMS activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, industrial standards, technical validation processes, and local legislation.
- Strengthen process governance and quality maturity within the organization.
People Leadership & Culture Development
- Develop a culture of EHS compliance and zero incident approach
- Build and develop a high‑performing leadership team for TMS Katowice, ensuring capability, accountability, and succession robustness.
- Promote a customer‑centric mindset, empowering teams to deliver operational commitments.
- Lead organizational transformation as needed (e.g., adapting structures, roles, workforce planning to workload evolution).
5. Financial & Performance Management
- Own TMS P&L performance within the Katowice site, ensuring delivery on budget, productivity, EBIT, and cash objectives.
- Oversee workload planning, industrial capacity allocation, project staffing, and efficiency actions.
- Implement robust governance for performance risk identification and mitigation.
6. Transformation & Site Maturity
- Accelerate the shift from “supplier‑like” operations to full TMS maturity, including culture, processes, accountability, and customer orientation.
- Lead improvement programs tied to project transitions, ramp-ups, and industrialization (e.g., BaWu ramp-up, PKP competitiveness, ICNG recovery).
- Support digitalisation, standardisation, and deployment of global industrial performance tools and methodologies.
Performance measurements: (OTD, QCD, Sales, PMC, Orders, Gross margin, etc.)
- Finance (sales, POH, cash)
- Project QCD
- Customer satisfaction
- Quality (GR GO On time, GR On time, Costs of Non-Quality, ISO compliance)
- EHS KPIs (IFR1, IFR2)
- Compliance Process, legal & Social Responsibility (industrial relations, ethics & compliance, ALSTOM Image)
EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
- Graduate Degree in Engineering or Business Management
- Master of Business Administration
- Post Graduate in Technology/Masters in Engineering
Experience
Mandatory:
- Over 10 to 15 years of experience in the Transport/Automobile/Heavy Machinery/Industrial Technology industry with at least 10 years of relevant experience in General Management and managing a P&L
- Solid experience in forming and leading teams and in people management
- Good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities enabling decision making for the business profitable
- Solid industrial background and direct management of complex and sophisticated installations in Capital Intensive Landscape
