Introduction

In  Belgium, Alstom is active in the design and manufacture of equipment, electrical and electronic systems for rolling stock equipment and railway signalling. Alstom Belgium has developed two centers of excellence: one for auxiliary converters, traction systems & low voltage cabinets, and the second for signalling systems for main lines and ETCS (European Train Control System) / ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System).

Alstom Belgium also offers the operators its expertise in maintenance services and renovation. The Charleroi teams have a good knowledge and reputation in project management all over the world. With nearly 1000 employees, including 500 engineers, Alstom Belgium  is the largest rail production site in Belgium.

 

Overview:

Ensure that the Traction and Auxiliary Sub-System standard products meet the needs of the concerned RS/Infra Platform(s) and market objectives.

 

Organisational Reporting

Direct report to Traction Platform Director

Functional manager of site Competitiveness manager

Functional manager of Traction & Aux technical managers

With other Traction Product Managers on other sites

 

Specific responsibilities of the role: 

  • Propose product roadmap, prepare with support of Traction platform Product Approval Boards and Product Review Boards
  • Participate to innovation definition roadmap at site level
  • Insure QCD of R&D programs
  • Ref Solution QCD and improvement plans (with support of Site Competitiveness Manager)
  • Contribute to localization plan definition & implementation
  • Guarantee the maximum reuse of standard Alstom traction product for traction solutions answering platforms expectations
  • Pre-tendering and tenders support (with support of Site Competitiveness Manager)
  • Contribute to direct sale strategy definition & implementation wit Traction Platform
  • Define and manage site sustaining program and budget
  • Manage product obsolescence, evolutions and major developments (using engineering teams allocated for the purpose)
  • Manage “end of life” of products

     

    Accountabilities: Product management and development budget management

     

    Desired Skills & Experience: 

  • Education  : Engineering degree or Marketing or business school
  • Previous experience : Minimum of 5 years experience in similar industrial environment
  • Technical  Skills & Competencies :
    • A clear understanding of Impact organization and platforming is expected as week as a clear understanding of the rolling stock international market
    • Skills in traction system engineering or interested for
    • Skills in cost management or interested for
    • High skills in team management and communication
  • Language skills : Fluent in English
