Your Mission
As a Traction Project Software Leader, you will be responsible for developing and testing embedded software for traction and converters for light rail platforms. You’ll work closely with software developers, software validation engineers, Project engineering managers, validation engineers, traction system engineers and safety engineers to ensure compliance with safety standards (EN 50657, EN 50128) while delivering robust, high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the elaboration of the software specification & architecture, in collaboration with the software development engineers
- Develop software components:
- Perform the software components detailed design & coding
- Set up the software development tool chain
- Specify, design, prepare and perform tests and verifications of his / her deliverables
- Put software work products under configuration management
- Support software integration, together with the other software development engineers
- Sustain the software
- Keep informed of the evolution of technologies
- Contribute to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions
- Apply processes and standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, process, …)
- Produce and follow up the QCD commitments for the whole software development in his scope of projects/products
- Define the management plans for software development (by customizing and completing internal templates if any):
- Contribute to the definition of the software verification and validation plan together with the software validation engineer
- Contribute to the definition of the software configuration management plan together with the configuration manager
- Contribute to the definition of the software quality plan together with the quality manager
- Organize the software Design Reviews
- Organize and lead software development activities so that to ensure QCD commitment, till the end of software development:
- Coordinate software development activities (software design - including activities performed by Best Cost Countries or subcontractors)
- Participate to the product CCB (Change Control Board) for software part (i.e. manage commitment and change to software requirements)
- Alert the reporting structure for any event that could impact software development QCD commitments
- Establish the consolidated reporting on his/her WP
- Ensure the coordination with the team of Software development engineers assigned to his scope of projects/products.
- Ensure site testing of the software (up to 20% of travel per year)
- Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

What We’re Looking For
EDUCATION
Mandatory:
- Master degree in engineering
- English and French operational in reading and writing for technical documentation
Desirable:
- System, Electrical, Electromechanical, Power electronics & control systems engineering knowledge

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
Mandatory:
- 7 years successful experience in software development
- Knowledge of railway safety standards (EN 50657, EN 50128).
- Including 2 years in Railway business
Desirable:
- Experience with Simulink and Controlbuild
- Experience in management
Required Qualifications
- Master degree in Engineering (Software, Electronics, Control Systems, or related field).
- 5-10 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.
