Your Mission
As a System Designer – Autonomous Train Development, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the next-generation Autonomous Train Operation (ATO) system. You will define requirements, develop system architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create safe, efficient, and reliable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Architecture
- Analyze customer and project requirements to define ATO system specifications.
- Identify technical risks and propose innovative solutions.
- Develop formal system models using UML, SysML, SADT methodologies.
- Define functional and constructional architectures for autonomous train systems.
System Integration & Validation
- Collaborate with RAM, Safety, Cybersecurity, Software, and Hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Define system elements and interfaces to guarantee compatibility across all subsystems.
- Conduct simulations and tests to validate system performance and reliability.
Research & Innovation
- Work on cutting-edge AI and automation algorithms for energy-efficient driving and obstacle detection.
- Contribute to the continuous evolution of ATO technology, supporting Alstom’s innovation roadmap.
- Stay updated on railway signaling technologies such as ERTMS and CBTC.
Project Execution & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support commercial and R&D projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Act as a technical interface for operators, suppliers, and auditors.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and system reports.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Master) in Aerospace, Electronics, Automation, Robotics, or Computer Science.
- Experience in system design & architecture, ideally in safety-critical industries (rail, aerospace, automotive).
- Proficiency in system modeling tools (UML, SysML, SADT) and architecture frameworks (Capella, PTC IM).
Key Skills & Technologies
- Experience in V-cycle & Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of railway signaling systems (ETCS, CBTC) is a plus.
- Understanding of requirement management & traceability.
- Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink for control system design.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work in a highly technical environment.
Nice-to-Have:
- Background in AI, machine learning, or computer vision for railway applications.
- Experience with safety-critical software development (EN 50128, ISO 26262).
- Interest in automation, digital twins, and smart mobility solutions.
